There are so many great things about riding off-pavement, chief among them: far fewer cars. Also no worries about artificial speed limits. Common sense and fear are enough to keep the speeds nicely aligned with the terrain difficulty. Oh, and it instantly expands your inventory of routes.

I think Honda did a great job with the design of the Rebel. A modern take on the cruiser look.
More riding season prep: replacing the fork seals. I was able to unbolt the damper without buying the special tool but did have to buy a torque wrench since my other ones were too low or too high. Will be using some PVC pipe to drive in the seals.

This tire that I installed last year is still waiting to lose its whiskers.

My DR650's stock muffler weighs 4kg (8.8lb) more than this aftermarket unit!

I'm genuinely surprised that he didn't insist on them playing "Macho Man."
I know what you mean. I bought my last helmet around December last year and then had to stare at it, sitting in my home office, for a few mos. before I could use it.
I bought it about 30 yrs ago. It's very simple. 12-volt system with a 3.6 amp/49-watt average draw,
I don't ride in the winter but I do use a heated vest when it's cold. Love it because it's not bulky so is easy to wear in the morning, on the way to the trails, and then stow it in my bag later in the day. Much less bulky than wearing a warm underlayer.
We're into the new year and we're also past the shortest day(light) of the year. That means thoughts of this coming riding season are popping into my head. On the weekend I gave the Flying Circus a little warm up to get some gas flowing in them. It's about 0C today.
Enjoy your riding season. My insurance expired a couple of days ago. Will replace the DR's fork seals over the winter. Also picked up a GSXR muffler for it that I hope I can shorten so it fits the bike.
I am weirdly excited to bundle up in my house on a cold winter weekend and watch a bunch of this guy's videos.

Thx for the info!
What bike is that? I don't think I've seen it before.
I can barely make out some logo or something imprinted into the riding surface of the tire. Never seen that before but I haven't looked at a ton of sportbike tires so...
Unbelievable. Never heard of this guy but now have to find out everything I can about how those forks held up.
No rim lock, either?
Does it have an erase or overwrite-with-a-black-bar function? I know that if I were using it, I'm bound to make a mistake at some point, much as I do with a label maker.
More info pls!
It's not my EV charging outlet because I had to fix it myself this morning!
AI generated the previous photo based on this photo of my bike.
I do wish this was a real model kit I could buy.

Yeah, that makes sense. Not much else you can do, really. Despite all that, it looks like a lovely place to ride.
I enjoyed driving on similar rural roads in England in a car but on a bike I would've been uneasy going around some of those blind curves. No room to maneuver if the driver of an oncoming car was doing something stupid.
He's not unique in that regard. What's crazy is how many people support him.
Same here. Watching Japanese choppers going for chill rides on Japanese rural roads helped to get me through our Canadian winter.
Exactly why I suffered through changing my tires in my garage using my bike's tool kit. I wanted to ensure I could do it with what I carry. And also wanted to make mistakes and learn a better way to do things in the comfort of my garage.
It was WAAAAY easier replacing the front tire than the rear. I didn't even need to use my bead breaker tool. It WAS, however, harder to seat the bead. Had to use almost 60psi and lots of soap to get the tire to seat properly.
Finally got fed up with the Shinko 244 (aka Golden Boy) and replaced it with a Pirelli MT21. The former is a 50/50 tire and I've been doing more technical trails that I expected so I wanted the more aggressive tread of the MT21.

Yup, got to cover each others' backs. ๐
