I always considered Aliens a horror movie, just with heavily armed characters. Siege horror like Night of the Living Dead. I'd put the Assembly Cut of 3 on par with the first two. Just a more complete, thoughtful movie about loss, mortality, self sacrifice and redemption.

I have a friend in their 60s who hadn't seen any Alien yet. We just finished the first two and he was floored. He's pumped for the Assembly Cut of 3 now.

Mouse Hunt is basically a comedic remake of this. Not sure how far in you are yet but in the final act, Peter Weller goes amazingly bonkers. Such a great set piece.

Too bad the ads don't sell what the movie is actually about. They make it look like a demonic possession flick.

80s horror pink does not mess around.

Makes a good double feature with the 1988 Blob. Both are very pink and very gooey.

I do love the original, but the remake really builds on it by having the mother and daughter actually interact after the switch occurs. The Jodi Foster version really missed some great opportunities in not having Foster and Harris share scenes together.
