@rspb St Aidan's 26/3/2025. A brilliant day photographing Grebes. The Slavonian Grebe has changed appearance since my last visit. Black-necked Grebes have arrived. The Little Owls were making the most of the sunshine. @birdguides.bsky.social

I submitted a photo to @birdguides.bsky.social for photo of the week. I didn't expect to win, but neither did I expect to get it picked as one of the 'other notable images' of the week! I'm made up & glad I posted it. Cheers πŸ‘

I heard there were a few good #owls around Gothenburg like Ural Owl but with no information on where it actually was, I didn't go looking. I did golooking for Eagle & Hawk Owl late on in the day but no luck! I did get told about this roosting #tawnyowl, though!

The day after my tour in Oslo, I was heading to Sweden πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ in the sunshine. Whilst Simon got Black Woodpecker & Hawkie in the sun! On the 6/2, I went to Hono, part of Gothenburg's Archipelago. I added a couple of birds to my year list but got great shots of #greenwoodpecker

I was in Oslo, Norway, last week & I did a tour with the Oslo Birder, Simon Rix on 4/2. The bird I most wanted to see was this #hawkowl, which is overwintering close to the city. The wintery conditions were challenging for photography, but being in the snowy forest was brilliant!

I've just watched Earth's Tropical Islands - episode 3 "Hawaii" on BBC4 (recorded). One of the best programmes I've ever watched. More than just a nature programme! @bbcearth.bsky.social

A great day out today. Cockerham for lots of year ticks - including Bewick's & Whooper Swans. A first visit to Knott End for Black Redstart. Then, a diversion on my way home to St Helens for the Ring-necked Duck. #113 so far!

I know, yeah. I was at RSPB Leighton Moss, photographing Water Rail, and when I was walking back to my car, I saw that the Diver had been reported. I decided that if the Lawing had been reported by the time I got to my car, then I'd drive across the country to see them. It was, and I did!

Water Rail @rspbleightonmoss.bsky.social 9/1/25 in icy conditions. I was the only person about, apart from the workmen at Lower Hide. It was a great frosty morning at the Moss as always. @birdguides.bsky.social @rspb.bsky.social

9/1/25 About a mile away from White-billed Diver was the mega Grey-headed Lapwing. As I was getting out of my car, it flew away. Shortly after, it returned & came exceptionally close! Thanks to guy with the commentary. @britishbirds.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social @ntbirdclub.bsky.social

White-billed Diver at Duridge Bay Country Park 9/1/25. Divers are my favourite birds by far, so I had to go up to Northumberland for it. It gave great views. Thanks to the finder. @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social @ntbirdclub.bsky.social

Great catch! I went back, but it was still over the far side. The Kingfisher turned up, though - got to check the photos now! Nice to meet you today!
