Backyard Starship. Chaney. Maggert.

If anyone is looking for a fun space opera series, I wholeheartedly recommend the Backyard Starship series by Terry Maggert and J. N. Chaney. Just finished book 25 and enjoyed it as much as the previous 24. There is also a spinoff series and a couple of short stories.

The obvious reasoning behind the inaction is that they're in on the grift. Willing to put up a weak front of righteous indignation, but for the most part, not willing to rock the boat. It still never ceases to amaze me how it always comes back to ratings with this guy. It's SO telling about his own insecurity with how he's perceived whenever he uses "low ratings" as a dig at people in the media. I presume that, to him, that's absolutely the most humiliating concept he can imagine.

Yeah, that gaping chasm of destruction does spew noxious gasses pretty often.
