Protests against economic instability broke out in #Tehran yesterday. In addition to closing their shops, protesters took to the streets and chanted defiant slogans.

Since this morning, protests in Tehran have intensified in response to the worsening economic situation.

Based on the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center’s monitoring, the Islamic Republic has carried out at least 1,871 executions in Iran since the start of 2025.

Of those, 189 executions have been recorded in just the first 17 days of December.

One day before her death, she told a friend that she had twice escaped arrest during the Tehran demonstrations, but felt that security forces had begun to target her.

She said she could not remain indifferent, and that there was no difference between her own family and Nika’s family.
Dr. ٫AidaRostami, after finishing her hospital shifts, secretly visited the homes of those wounded in the #WomanLifeFreedom protests and treated them.

He was sentenced to death and executed by firing squad at Evin Prison on December 11, 1982.

Kourosh Sadri Najafi was tried by the Islamic Republic’s Military Revolutionary Court for his involvement in the formation of the post-revolutionary Nima group of army officers, participation in National Front demonstrations, and mobilizing nationalists and monarchists.

His case became one of the most striking examples of unfair judicial proceedings in Iran.

Mohsen Shekari was arrested for “blocking a street and injuring a Basij member,” and was tried and executed in only 75 days.

His rushed execution and the broadcast of his forced confessions on state TV intensified the anger of protesters.

On 3 November 2022, concurrent with the 40-day commemoration ceremony for Hadis Najafi, security forces fired pellet rounds at Sepehr Azami, striking him in the face and chest.

He succumbed to his injuries 33 days later in the hospital due to the severity of the wounds.

The Abdorrahman Boroumand Center has documented at least 1,728 executions in Iran so far in 2025, including 303 in November, the deadliest month of the year. In just the first four days of December, 46 more people have been executed.

She joined the protests because she said she couldn’t stay silent. She distributed her handwritten notes among people, urging everyone to join the protests.

Shahryar Mohammadi: One Person’s Story Shahryar Mohammadi had many dreams. One day, he got a tattoo that read “I dream of dying without dreams.

Three days later, on November 18, IRGC forces chased him down in Aliabad, forced him to stop, and killed him with a barrage of bullets.

On the night of November 15, 2022, Shahriar Mohammadi secretly removed the body of his friend, Mohammad Hassanzadeh—killed during the protests—from Gholipour Hospital in Bukan to prevent security forces from seizing it, and took it to his hometown village.

Habibollah Fathi: One Person’s Story Those close to Habibollah Fathi described him as a warmhearted, family-oriented man with strong social ties. He was a well-known and respected figure within the Divandareh community.

He believed that because of his age, the security forces would not shoot him.

Mr. Habibollah Fathi was actively involved in the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests in the city of Divandarreh. He stayed in contact with the young protesters, trying to look after them and advise them on how to maintain their personal safety.

Omid Mo'ayedi: One Person’s Story Omid Mo'ayedi was fatally shot by security forces while trying to help a protester.

As he fell to the ground, security forces fired a final bullet into his forehead.

Omid Mo’ayedi was 20 years old — a protester enraged by the killing of Nika Shakarami. Around 9 p.m. on November 15, 2022, on Pasdaran Boulevard in Shiraz, he was shot in the back with pellets while trying to help a detained protester.

According to the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center, the Islamic Republic has carried out at least 1,543 executions in Iran since the start of 2025, the highest level in 30 years, averaging one person every five hours. November alone accounts for 166 executions to date.

Fo'ad Mohammadi: One Person’s Story Mr. Fo'ad Mohammadi  believed in gender equality and held that a society can only be free when its women are free.

On the night of November 15, 2022, around 11 p.m., in Kamyaran, Foad Mohammadi was shot and killed by Revolutionary Guard forces using live ammunition.

Javad Rezai loved music and literature and was a sculptor. On November 16, 2022, he joined the protests and told his friends, “We are pedestrians with no weapons. By law, officers have no right to shoot at us. When they attack, we must not run.”
