No, the police should never be involved. Abolish all prisons and police.

They're such wonderful beings.
Ground-breaking brown bear research holds great promise, writes Anchorage nature writer Bill Sherwonit in a commentary for the @alaskabeacon.com alaskabeacon.com/2026/04/21/g...
Bluesky has been broken all day in some form.
She's still a horrible person that represents the selfishness and shallowness of capitalistic America.

They wanted a photo op and I just walked out, lol. No, I don't endorse the continued criminalization of mental illness and homelessness, and police involvement will never be part of the solution. Abolition or bust. And fuck your patronizing language and hyperfocus on aesthetics.
I would smile a great deal if I was on such a jury pool.
Bluesky is still wonky today.

“The EU’s highest court has found Hungary’s anti-LGBTQ+ law to be discriminatory, stigmatising and in breach of basic democratic values…”
This is a crucial decision. The court rejected the political claim that LGBTQ+ representation is “propaganda.” We must keep fighting politics that dehumanise us.
89 candles would have set off the sprinklers, so we settled for one — and one perfect slice of cake (with @bradtakei.bsky.social on ice cream duty). Thank you to every friend, fan, and fellow traveler who has made these 89 years such a joyous voyage.
The "public comments at the hearing before the vote left little doubt that Monterey Park residents overwhelmingly disdained not only the prospect of a massive, noisy, and polluting infrastructure project being erected in their backyards, but who that project would benefit, at their expense.”
I hope it's sabotaged by far. Greedy sociopath repungicans.
A second rescue attempt for beagles at Ridglan Farms faced militarized force: tear gas, rubber bullets, and arrests blocked animal advocates from reaching a single dog.
The force used to stop them reveals the animal research industry's power base may be weakening:

My favorite part of the book is the contrast between the mob’s overindulgent, seemingly invincible grip on Cuba and the quiet, underestimated organizing of Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, and the July 26th Movement. It’s shocking to read about how many U.S. politicians, businessmen, corporations, and celebrities (like JFK and Frank Sinatra) openly exploited the Cuban people. In a David versus Goliath moment, the Cuban people rise up and drive the oppressors out in an absolute historic triumph. It's of the people, by the people, and crucial to know this perspective today. Most Americans probably don’t know that before the revolution Cuba was a U.S. puppet state under Batista, an American backed dictator. Forty percent of the population couldn’t read, and Cuba was openly labeled "the brothel of the Western Hemisphere". That’s what the U.S. wants for Cuba again. End the embargo. 🇨🇺
“In the end, Cuba was the Mob’s most costly defeat. They had positioned themselves as legitimate businessmen in Cuba. They had placed all their faith in the brute power of American capitalism. The more Castro’s incipient Revolution gained traction, the more the mobsters invested, in the belief that they could drown out the will of the people through a massive infusion of capital. Rampant development would trump Revolution—or at least that was how it was supposed to go. In the end, the Cuban people made their own choice, and the mobsters were chased out of town.” ― T. J.
