Memrise I think

Tá an céist an-tábhachtach agam: cé acu is fearr—Nordie nó Saor Stát Tayto 🤔🤔🤔 (Is é "Nordie" an freagrair ceart, dála an scéal) 😌 #Éire #Gaeilge #Spéirgorm #Ireland

Duolingo or any app is a nice way to memorize vocabulary but a far cry from properly learning a language. I use a mix of self-studying grammar and vocab with books, adding vocab to a flashcard app, listening and reading a lot and conversation circles. Also formal classes too 🙂

Tá mé sásta liom féin. Ba é Gaeilge a fhoghlaim mo rún i mbliana agus lean me leis! Mothaím go bhfuil mo leibhéal ag feabhsú. Anois, tá mé ag iarraidh níos labhairt i nGaeilge le daoine eile 😌😊 #polyglot #Langsky #Gaeilge #Éire #Ireland

(In Spanish and French that is. I am still very much in the die a death of embarrassment with my spoken Irish 🫣 but I'll get there!)

The reality is it is gonna happen and it sucks. The important thing is that you don't let it become an excuse to stop speaking. Trust me when I say I have died a thousand deaths by language fumbles and I still ended up being a very good speaker.

Step 4: Practice something structured. Often at beginner/lower intermediate level what you lack is spontaneity. Doing some structured speaking, even by yourself, can help boost your confidence.

Step 3: Get right back on the horse. Seek out another opportunity to speak the more you leave it the worse it'll get.

Step 2: Remind yourself of what you DID manage to say. Our brains are hardwired for negativity bias and we often forget what we've done well.

Step 1. Cry. Okay not really but sometimes there is no skipping the "this feels bad" part.

You know those days when the words just WILL NOT come? Yeah, hate those. Here's how I bounce back from an embarrassing language fumble.... #LearningLanguages #Polyglot #LangSky

You know those moments that'll flash before your eyes before you die? Singing Bella Ciao with 250.000 people protesting against the Palestinian genocide arriving at the Colosseum in Rome will be one of those moments.

Probably no surprise that I love sharing my passion for languages with my kids. Just saw this while browsing new story cards for my daughter's radio. Bravo Ladybird 🇵🇸🇵🇸 👏👏

#Gaeilge in Spain! Yesterday we created the funeral of Red Hugh O'Donnell in Valladolid. This plaque was erected in his honour.

For every Ulster protestant (myself included) who has been told from Unionists that the Irish language has nothing to do with us, and is a "foreign" language. I would like to call bullshit. #Ireland #Gaeilge #Spéirghorm

Tá mé bródúil as Béal Feirste. During this trip I have heard and spoken more Irish here than the republic. 🥹🥹 And it counts for more here because we haven't had half the help to keep the language going as in the republic. Uppa nordies!!!! #éire #gaeilge #ireland #kneecap
