So much of our language reflects
the common βcar firstβ bias around our streets, & we should never forget that much of that language was the result of deliberate campaigns to specifically re-write our perspective of streets as βfor cars only.β This is one of the more subtle, but important, examples.

Most cyclists would know if they had to choose: a bike street is obviously much better than a street with bike lanes. But is that always and everywhere the case?
Thatβs to give up, how come this is possible ? Vision? Leadership?
As an aside, Iβve almost given up it sometimes seems hopeless.
What is missing from this pretty accurate long assessment of UK-EU ties is the bigger picture vision from either side as to the future of Europe in the age of unreliable superpowers - and that is what will have to change for the relationship to move on fundamentally. www.ft.com/content/2007...
Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.
As much as I love a good bollard, I donβt want my world to be full of them.

We all need to lodge an official complaint. It takes no time at all, and I've dropped a link to BBC Complaints in the comments. This is shocking.
Is this actually real? Surely not!
It's probably down to the landowner but also the stores should demand "upgrades". Both my Lidl stores are good,(I live equidistant from 2)
My local Lidl scores positive all counts.

I'm a big fan of the podcast anyway but this hit two green flags for me. Great episode.

Corporate capture of the state.
The Post Office with help from Fujitsu, accountants, lawyers illegally convicted postmasters for fraud.
Β£1.5bn+ compensation paid from public purse. Perpetrators paid ZERO.
No one charged/prosecuted for lying in courts. Fujitsu gets govt contracts.
Who governs?
Ageing: the condition of becoming less serious about all you were once far too serious about and more serious about all that you once undervalued.

Any action to ban pavement parking has to be a good thing.
Pavements are for pedestrians.
