@masonthompson.bsky.social how many more Eastside urbanists do you think it will take to get light rail service from Kent’s Sounder station all the way to Bothell?
I still think the best @sound-transit.bsky.social plan would also include Redmond to Ballard, and Issaquah to West Seattle.
It’s a small thing, only a couple miles at a time, but picking up my daughter from school and riding to activities on our ebike instead of driving has been life changing. The world is significantly more fun on a bike.
Same.
If I could get a daily feed of local news to an e-ink tablet without supporting the evil empire, that would be my preferred format over physical newspapers for sure.
I do miss the Pacific NW magazine, but not enough to resubscribe.
I’ve cheered on the last four loudly and proudly. Would love to be in Liverpool for a derby someday. #LFC #EVELIV

Although there is one question that is *not* meaningless and *does* have a correct answer:
"True/Flase: People ticketed for speeding in school zones should lose their driver's license."
[TRUE]
… head over to @woodlandparkzoo.bsky.social for a beautiful few hours of animal watching and walking through the trees, return home for a nap in the sun, walk up to Circa for birthday dinner with my dad, take a Lime glider home with leftovers and dessert for my wife and daughter.
Not bad at all.

I think the Bay Area will always feel like my true home, but on days like today it’s pretty easy to love (West) Seattle.
Walk by Easy Street Records and the RSD line to breakfast at Great American Diner, pick up an order for the school library from Pegasus Books, get a little gardening done…
I’m turning 44 this week and 100% feel like a ‘young 50 year old’

What an incredible day at @woodlandparkzoo.bsky.social today! The animals were out and active in a way they rarely are.
Please be aware of mischievous birds attempting to escape though when passing through the aviary doors.
Unfortunately, a lot of the historic anti-Spurs hate I’ve heard is also antisemitic because of the clubs long ties with London’s working class Jewish communities. I love heckling my friends who are Spurs fans, but always doublecheck before liking or following other commenters.
I’m game. “Safety Red” Fast-Dry Waterborne Traffic Paint, a t-square, and a 30’+ measuring tape (15’ to either side of the center line of the hydrant) means we can do it to the city’s specs and not end up triggering extra costs and rework.
I’d still rather see 30’ bulb outs with crossings.
@westseaurbanism.bsky.social friends,
I’m seeing more and more fire hydrants blocked in our area and couldn’t help wondering if we could combine efforts with SFD to get bulb outs, mid-block crossings, and fire hydrant locations collocated.
Traffic calming and fire safety in one!
Driving in the rain in Seattle is miserable. Taking the bus is infinitely more pleasant. We had some nice winter weekends though too this year which made for decent e-bike access to the market as well. They’ve seen A LOT more of my business since cars were removed.
I forgot to take one of @lynnbikesinalki.bsky.social’s Alki Healthy Street photos this evening, but my dad’s in town for the weekend so we walked the full length of it around to Richey Viewpoint before dinner. It really is outstanding.
My new job has started paying me, so I can proudly say I am now also a paying member of @theurbanist.org
Keep up the great work!

Personally, I think the not having to drive part makes it worth it, especially with kids. We don’t have an EV though.
Is it that we don’t have a lot of kids here (relative to peer cities), or that we families with young kids have been pushed to the periphery?
Ditto
I miss the live announcements on SF Muni light rail so much. “Mariposa… mariposa is butterfly”
Oh, you’re just in limbo for now then and age doesn’t even exist, at least not until your last one is in school full time.
Oh dear. I thought seeing Predator young was bad.
Age is just a number… until cottage cheese with fruit and nuts, and fiber supplements take the lead. It’s all downhill from here. 😂
It’s a tough time every year, but also a beautiful time to see so many even beyond #LFC take a moment to acknowledge what’s really important and keep fighting for change. #JFT97
Cheering for Lucho and against Kane simultaneously makes these matches tough.
Survey completed. Will put a bit more thought into the email to accompany it. The distances between population centers in the PNW are very reasonable for efficient, higher speed conventional rail if the plan is bold enough to recognize the potential value to those cities and go for it.
This is so disappointing. No true vision for separating freight and passenger rail where service demands greatly differ = continued inefficiency and delays for both.
