Screenshot of a PlayStation help page under the heading “Overview.” A collapsed section titled “What is age verification (for UK & Ireland accounts)?” appears above an expanded section titled “Why am I asked to verify my age?” The expanded section explains that, in line with local laws and regulations, age verification is used to provide an appropriate PlayStation experience and help protect younger users.

I know age verification will probably come to Ireland soon anyway, but fairly sure Sony has just lumped Ireland in with the UK now rather than wait.

Sometimes you'll read this and wonder if they mean the actual law

Penalties of more than €17m imposed on bus, rail, Luas operators for missing targets Department of Transport tells Dáil committee passenger numbers are continuing to surge and punctuality is improving

Annoying that this is presented in financial penalties. I'm not sure financial penalties do much to improve the situation and they do nothing for the people waiting

Be good to get official stats and what routes etc were cancelled and how often. Is there any pattern etc

Chaya Raichik, the owner of the Libs of TikTok account has moved on from harassing Senator O’Flynn & is now targeting an Irish priest, who went semi viral after he misspoke earlier this week.

Now the priest’s name, phone number and address are being circulated online.

This is incredibly dangerous

I'm in favour of the Local Property Tax but frankly it's a bit hard to persuade people of it*, or raising it, to "get the streets cleaned" or whatever, while they can find some millions down the sofa.

*esp people in Finglas/Ballymun who get the lowest return)

IrishCycle.com news and analysis on sustainable transport in Ireland

Ah I was wondering what was happening with the Ratoath Road. Thanks @feljin.ie for raising it.

Amazing we can find 2million for a one off private ticket only event but can’t fund catering

2 million would provide catering on all routes missing it for 1 year

Still surprised (though not really), that with everything that happened with the fuel protests, and Michael Healy-Rae proclaiming himself as speaking for the people, the use of the word populism was practically non existent.

A cudgel to beat some with.

It is slightly crazy it's his response to this and not to Twitter/Grok that has him in retreat mode.

Someone on the radio saying "what would it say about the Irish Constitution if we couldn't transpose the EU Directive on Immigration"

I'm not sure they've considered it might say something positive about the Constitution.

An infuriating read. That DCC are also relying on Approved Housing Bodies to manage these makes it far more complicated too

Listening to Newstalk and apparently all the parties had a mandate around immigration in the last general election and Big Jim is just following that

Also prefixing "Human Rights" before lawyers when it comes to members of the Council of State.

Cairn Homes lodge plans for 715 units in Finglas, including apartment block reaching nine storeys The scheme consists of 15 buildings, with one reaching nine storeys in height, at a cost of €372m.

750 residential units and the "masterplan" talks about the Luas extension to Finglas scheduled to open 2028-2032.

It's the second news story about the Luas extension that fails to mention it's still not funded.

We really need to nip this "actor stars" when it's an AI Generated Image.

Nobody is suggesting Carrie Fisher was in Rogue One.

Revealing that the Guardian apparently couldn't actually find any examples of the ruling having "changed lives" positively. Those quoted in support simply express political agreement with it rather than being able to point to any tangible life benefit, in contrast to those quoted in opposition.

Great column but really frustrating to read. Even with the Luas to Finglas articles yesterday, few mentioned that the Government hadn't even committed to funding it. Finglas won't even get a dedicated Bus Corridor to match the new BusConnects route despite the advertising.
