best actress for every year this decade:
2025: TBD… 👀
2024: Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Hard Truths
2023: Sandra Hüller, Anatomy of a Fall
2022: Cate Blanchett, Tár
2021: Penélope Cruz, Parallel Mothers
2020: Carey Mulligan, Promising Young Woman
Bi Gan's Resurrection is not just one of *the* movies of 2025, it's one of the best of the decade. Maybe a masterpiece.

I once presented a “Top 5” ranking of my favorite Original Movie Songs of 1995 in a 6th grade project that included six total songs, two of which were tied at #4. I was immediately teased for “not knowing math,” and vowed never to include a tie in my rankings again.
I count 12
I can't believe how fortunate we are to have new movies from each of Kelly Reichardt, Lynne Ramsay, Claire Denis, Sofia Coppola, Kathryn Bigelow, Julia Ducournau, and Lucrecia Martel in the same season.
If MAGA had any culture, they'd be furious.
I'm running the Chicago Marathon to raise awareness for kidney health! If you'd like to support #teamkidneyCHI and the National Kidney Foundation of IL with a donation, please see my fundraising page. Thank you!

Anora is fairly 'just fine' and one of Baker's lesser movies, but at least it passes for me. I'm happy for Baker.
Also, certainly happy The Academy have *not* embarrassed themselves for a second consecutive year. Let the nightmare of 2020-2022 remain a distant memory.

Eraserhead is a fantasy horror that brilliantly distills the fear of raising a child and losing one's independence into a perfect surrealist nightmare, one that only David Lynch could've made.

One of the most important, most innovative, and one of my most beloved filmmakers of the medium I love.
With Mulholland Drive, he changed the way I view cinema, when I first saw it at age 17.
Rest in Peace to the great David Lynch
Apologies, this order is incorrect; I was looking at images incorrectly
