I arrive at SeaTac around 3:30 so I'd think I'll be around/mingling before 5.

That's awesome!

It was not lost on me how the handlebar curls actually _did_ make an appearance in the final cut. 🤣

Super excited about the personal seat increase from 3 to 6 -- it means I can modestly expand the tailnet for use by my children and my folks' stuff too! Thank you, Tailscale!!

Fun to watch this evening (after the fact). There's even two cameo appearances by yours truly in the short segment at the 1:30:00 (90-minute) mark. 🎉

I should've used the better camera when @adorablecyb.org and I recorded, but it worked out alright. Props to their editing team! #TeamHomeAssistant

YOU: Hi my name is [name]. I’m calling from [ZIP CODE].

YOU: Today, President Trump said that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran does not meet his deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That rhetoric is extreme, dangerous, and disqualifying.

FOR THOSE W/ DEM ELECTEDS: I’m asking [ELECTED OFFICIAL] to publicly condemn this rhetoric and use every available procedural tool to stop further escalation, including support for impeachment and urgent public pressure on congressional leadership.

FOR THOSE W/ GOP ELECTEDS: I’m asking [ELECTED OFFICIAL] to publicly condemn this rhetoric, press the administration and cabinet to treat this as disqualifying conduct.

YOU: Calling this what it is matters. Even if removal is difficult, elected officials should treat rhetoric like this as unfit and dangerous.

YOU: [OPTIONAL COMMENTS]

Good guess (and was an option I'd considered), but it didn't make the design cut.

Two 3D printed "tags" in the shape of a fishing tackle box on a black background desk mat with the MMS logo displayed below. The tackle box tags were for MMS MOA 2025 and are brown in color with a black outline. The two tags are only different in their display of the MMS logo at center. One has a red logo on a white background; the other has a white logo on a red background.

I spent part of last weekend prepping preview decks for @mmsmoa.bsky.social, a sign we're getting close to the event!! 🎉

The 2026 MOA tchotchke/tags are printing away. Any guesses what they are this time? SPOILER: they're not tackle boxes like the pictured 2025 tags.

Haven't had a chance to actually try this out yet, but as I'm working on some preview #mmsmoa slide decks this weekend I think I've got a perfect situation to use this live during a session!

I don't share the story a lot largely because it's long-form that "requires a few beers" to both tell fully and comprehend.

Tales of double lives, scrappy startup shenanigans (day drinking Fridays), pre-smartphone era tech, and much more.

If you want an easy icebreaker at an event, though, ask!

A bittersweet time; I did things folks only dream of, but put up with too much of the owner's dual-life bullshit (a WILD story). Company died _days_ after I finally left. And I faced really complex ethical conundrums before and after leaving.

It was a career risk; one I wouldn't trade for anything.

Take the startup job (because I had the opportunity to single-handedly build something used within massive enterprises/globally for a time, which few can boast), but don't treat the opportunity like it's your first-born.

Learn when to hold firm (assert your worth/value), and when to walk away.

I'm finally able to be there this year! Looking forward to catching up with (and meeting new) friends, learning some neat actionable stuff, and hanging out as an attendee!

A number of years ago we had a ton of VGA and DVI multi-monitor adapters (there was a weird port for dual monitors on some Dell models we had) going out to ewaste.

I cut off the weird side and turned them into little "flower" bouquets for everyone in the office as a holiday gift that year. 😀

Right on. I bought into a personal plan so that's pretty exclusively been my playground. I did use the free tier for some time until deciding to play around with something larger.
