Not sure I can afford for The Cure to release any more music. So far, I count 9 vinyl editions of Songs of a Lost World (including the ones packages with Songs of a Live World), 4 cassettes, and 3 CDs. 💸💸💸

Songs of a Live World isn’t shipping until February 12. The Blood Red Moon edition of Songs of a Lost World says December 26—but I’m imagine they’ll wait to ship everything together, if you ordered anything else.

While the ambiguous qualifiers of “more exercise” & “on average” make the comparison somewhat meaningless, whatever gets people out & riding is fantastic.

People riding in a safe bike-lane in downtown Vancouver

People riding in a safe bike-lane in downtown Vancouver

You don’t have to be a “cyclist” to support safe bike infrastructure in your city. You don’t have to ride bikes at all. You just have to understand the FACT that bike infrastructure makes getting around easier & safer for EVERYONE, saves us all public money, & makes cities generally more successful.

Shocking as it sounds, it’s quite possible people prefer the civility and community of Bluesky over being force fed some cooked up algorithm concocted by a bombastic billionaire to amplify trolls, bots, and miscreants. Imagine that!

Progress on #HamOnt becoming a more livable and sustainable city must include eliminating "Stroads" in dense urban neighbourhoods that should be flourishing with people and commerce but instead prioritize traffic speed and volume.

Strava's new night heat map

Strava's new night heat map

Interesting move on Strava's part.

But what if they did winter heat maps? Because every year round commuter has to make route changes.

Better yet, what about female only night maps? That would say a lot about how safe a city feels to 50% of the population.

Cycling is ten times more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities Active travel can help tackle the climate crisis earlier than electric vehicles – even if you swap the car for a bike for just one trip a day.

Riding bikes is 10X more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities. And that’s just the climate emissions. Doesn’t include the massive public & personal cost, the air & noise pollution, the huge space difference, etc… @theconversation.bsky.social

Mounting economic costs of India's killer smog Smog in New Delhi this month contains more than 50 times the World Health Organization's recommended limit of fine particulate matter.

Noxious smog smothering the plains of northern India is not only choking the lungs of residents and killing millions, but also slowing the country's economic growth.

Catholic women urged to strike over ‘betrayal’ on ordination Pope Francis and cardinals accused of ignoring calls to give women greater leadership roles Catholic women whose hopes of ordination were dashed at a recent worldwide synod in Rome are being urged to go on strike from church duties in protest at inertia on a reform that many now see as not only just but also inevitable. Catholic Women Strike: Global Witness for Equality was launched this month and is calling on women who are regular churchgoers, who work for the church on a voluntary basis or who have paid jobs with Catholic organisations to withhold their labour through Lent next year (5 March to 20 April). “We believe the time is ripe to demand what is right … Instead of waiting for a papal ‘yes’, we issue forth our ‘no’ to the systems of misogyny, sexism and patriarchy,” says the campaign’s website. Draft briefing for cabinet warned bike lane changes could worsen congestion A leaked government document says removing bike lanes in cities could backfire

www.thetrillium.ca/news/municip...

In case you needed more proof the con's reasoning for removing bike lanes isn't based on data so much as it's based on Dougie seeing bikes one time and thinking to himself "how dare they?!"

Study Shows How E-Bikes Are Shifting the Transportation Landscape a recent study highlights the benefits of e-bikes, including reduced reliance on cars and increased mobility for people of all ages

“Dual-mode households (cars & ebikes) can reduce their car use by 19% compared to those solely reliant on cars, particularly affecting shorter trips. This supports households moving to one car and adopting a ‘car light’ lifestyle.” Via @momentummag.bsky.social momentummag.com/study-shows-...

Ford bike lane bill criticized by road crash victims’ families at vigil Mayor Olivia Chow has highlighted the issue of safety in her opposition to the bill, saying that “Literally, some bike lanes save lives.”

“Minister, you say this bike lane legislation is about giving people more time with families. Our family would give anything to have more time with Alex, to hug her, speak with her, to see what a difference she’d be making in the world today.”💔 www.thestar.com/news/gta/for... #bikeTO #topoli #onpoli

Remember this picture every time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam."

This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s.

Many of the cities we admire made better choices regarding cars in the past. and are still making better choices today.

Better choices instead of excuses.
