Beautiful! Any illustrations of variations for places that don't have alleys?

Neighborhood scale upzonings increased housing production in many NYC neighborhoods
Upzoned block faces saw significant increases in housing unit permits in Philadelphia
How do upzonings impact housing supply?
In brand-new research published today @urbaninstitute.bsky.social, we show that big upzonings in New York City & Philadelphia had large, statistically significant effects on supply & permitting with several years of reforms.

this really sucks.
especially at a moment where trump has created a fascist police force which is violating the constitution with impunity. to then turn around and say, "sure, cops can have a little unconstitutional search and seizure as a treat."
on CNBC Trump blasts Pope Leo for criticism of U.S. foreign policy 54 minutes ago CNN Trump says Pope Leo is 'terrible for foreign policy' 33 minutes ago Breaking News AP AP News Trump lambasts Pope Leo XIV, extending feud over Iran war with first.. 1 hour ago ^ Axios Trump unleashes tirade against "weak," "terrible" Pope Leo 31 minutes ago New York Post Trump blasts Pope Leo after pontiff's veiled jabs over Iran war,... 44 minutes ago.
Rather than treat Trump’s comments about Pope Leo as deranged, embarrassing and offensive to (many) Catholics, early headlines (and stories) paint it as Trump just bashing back against a political opponent. Truly broken media environment.
A UCLA parcel analysis found allowing fourplexes statewide could yield 1.2 million new homes — with the biggest gains in coastal markets, where homes would more than double.
ADU reforms add another 1.5 million potential homes.

A California study found condo developers pay 3-4x more for liability insurance than rental builders — because 80-85% of projects get sued.
This can add up to $18,300 per condo in added costs, pricing middle-income buyers out of for-sale housing.

just like pure uncut KKK stormfront shit from the site's owner and the guy who controls their algorithm which chooses which content people see!
“Four/Five” accessible flats - with bay window Juliette balconies.
We’ve been exploring a few different ways to bring some familiar elements to a new building type (while remaining honest about what is needed in the form and envelope of a contemporary low carbon building).

The Council just passed legislation to allow single-stair and single-entrance apartment buildings up to six stories in DC.
Allowing single-stair buildings:
✅ Reduces housing construction costs
✅ Enables housing on narrow city lots
✅ Facilitates more family-sized units
The bill passed unanimously.
Immigration enforcement is the number one priority of this administration — beyond everything else. And when the DOJ makes that its number one priority, it means that they have to drop a bunch of other cases, including ones with far more serious consequences.
The current 6-day Jeopardy champion works at a housing tax credit agency in New Jersey and for his banter with Ken he just looked directly at the camera and said "New York, California, shame on you, build more housing" and folks when I say heroes walk among us
Jackson is the only liberal justice who understands the moment and what it calls for. which we already knew because if Sotomayor understood it she would've retired under Biden
To be clear with how I feel about it. Anyone in the military who directs or carries out strikes on desalination plants should be in prison when this is over.
The Kelsey is an affordable housing developer fighting for more inclusive and accessible housing options, and their very first project was right here in downtown San José!
Excited to see them leaning into elevator reform, which will make new housing both cheaper & more accessible. Details below!
Research shows voters can turn against housing when buildings look ugly, but the fix isn't design review.
People respond to coherent style, real materials, and trees.
California could bake those into objective frameworks instead of relitigating aesthetics each time.

Democrats, progressive influencers, and journalists should leave X collectively and encourage their followers to do the same.
The thing people get wrong here: we have more power than X does. If every progressive left X, it would be much worse for X than it would be for progressives.
As a pro-housing city councilmember who made it through a low-turnout special election by *six votes* last year, we can never take these races for granted!
Washington just leveled up.
Small elevators = more elevators, more homes, and more accessible cities. @danbertolet.bsky.social
Progressives in the Pacific Northwest are lapping their CA sibs in the race for good housing policy.
The latest: An Oregon ban on unfunded inclusionary zoning, with Democratic Socialists leading the charge.

Unfortunately that relies on them having the resources to build. Our local public university put together an ambitious plan to build thousands of units spread across traditional dorms, workforce housing for faculty and staff, and affordable student housing, but it’s stalled due to lack of funding.
Just got word that the Tacoma planning commission advanced a motion to fully eliminate parking mandates citywide at their meeting tonight, by a 8-0 vote with one abstention.
If implemented, Washington's second and third largest cities would have both beat Seattle to eliminating parking mandates.
James Talarico, who just received the Democratic nomination for US Senate from Texas, was the lead sponsor of last session's successful single stair bill in the Texas House.
I’m excited to share that I've once again been endorsed by the Silicon Valley Asian Pacific American Democratic Club (SVAPADC)!
I'm proud to have made history as San José's first Filipino-American councilmember and I'm looking forward to continuing to provide proud AAPI representation in San José.
Abolish ICE has a +11 approval — which means it is *32 points* more popular than Donald Trump
Ask yourself: does corporate media portray that accurately?
AB 1406 would raise caps on new-home deposits — reducing lender risk, lowering construction costs, making homeownership more achievable.

Interviewer: "What's your take on how he's framing the economy?"
Me: "It's that he's lying."
The situation is even more bleak an hour south in San José where our AMI bands sit about $25k higher than SF.
