This is exciting not only because it gives us an understanding of how this EEG model works under natural emotional processing. It also demonstrates how we can leverage computational modelling and fMRI to link scalable electrophysiology to clinically relevant brain networks. #TranslationalPsychiatry

Taken together, the alignment between large-scale network activity, functionally-specific amygdala involvement, and behavioral relevance suggests that the Amyg-EFP captures how strongly emotional events are experienced as salient by a coordinated brain system.
The ability of the biomarker to tap into a functional system is further reflected in its association with subjective emotional experience. Specifically, the Amyg-EFP amplitude correlated with individual ratings of emotional reactivity during movie viewing outside the scanner.
Within the amygdala itself, the strongest associations were observed in subregions that are functionally connected with the salience network, indicating functional specificity.
Using concurrent #EEG and #fMRI during naturalistic emotional stimulation, we found that the Amyg-EFP goes beyond localized amygdala activity. During movie viewing, Amyg-EFP signal fluctuations covaried with salience network fMRI activation.
Excited to share our new #MolecularPsychiatry paper (on #NaturePortfolio), which extends our work on the Amyg-EFP, the fMRI-informed EEG #biomarker of the amygdala used in #PrismForPTSD to train emotional regulation.

Hi #Neuroscience community! Please help. Does anyone know about Substantia Nigra (SN) hemispheral #lateralization effects of dopamine production or connectivity? If you don't know the answer please share on so someone who knows will see this!
How do we know when we're hot, cold, or in pain? The answer is a sixth sense you may not have known existed.

A complex multipanel figue illustrating the links between interoception and multiscale brain body dynamics.
Interest in brain-body coupling is rising. Current methods typically focus on a single brain-body axis, like heart-brain, in isolation. @danlikesbrains.bsky.social, @jgross.bsky.social, and I argue that the brain and body exhibit complex, multi-scale dynamics. Read more: osf.io/preprints/ps...

Elon Musk says Neuralink will merge human brains with artificial intelligence. How realistic are these ideas?
Is this our future, or are Musk’s ideas just fantastical sci-fi imaginations?
