I’ve never understood why it’s meant to be surprising that x-information {creates outrage|travels fast|does what it’s designed for} more than information, which is merely true, not designed.

I think it's largely due to the fact that societies are slow to fully adopt new technologies and discover unintended use cases. Even if LLMs wouldn't improve any further, I'm sure we'd still discover new use cases in a decade for them. Value from a general purpose technology is a discovery process.

I've never used that peer review as any kind of signal or credential in judging a paper or deciding whether to read it.
