I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

This is my thinking as well. The historical parallel that comes to my mind is mid-century lead exposure, and the resulting neurological, social, and economic consequences.
I think it’s very funny to post “some cultures are superior to others” and then stop short of telling us which ones are inferior in your opinion. If you’re gonna do a big racism, say it with your chest.

Alaska friends, if you know of someone in the state who needs a psych eval and letter for gender affirming surgery, I can do it for free.
Man this sucks
Email from Tom Pittman at Identity: To our patients, supporters, partners, and broader LGBTQ A2S+ community, It is with a heavy heart that I write to share that Identity is closing. In-person care will continue through the end of this week. Telehealth care will continue through May 1. After May 1, our providers will continue supporting patients with refills and other critical transition needs to help ensure continuity of care during this process. May 15 will be Identity's final day of service.

As I’ve written elsewhere, heredity isn’t exactly a taboo on the left, nor is there any shortage of debate on this issue. The problem is the lack of rigorous thought about race:

this is all true, and also the language people use tends to reveal how kind they are to others, especially to those who serve no immediate purpose
oh look I found my people
I don’t think film dystopias do a good enough job portraying what keeps people going despite their terrible conditions, and I think it’s related to a lack of introspection and curiosity about how enslaved people psychologically survived enslavement
A photograph of a bedroom with a small piece of moose art on the wall. A moose is outside as well, looking in.
I took more pictures of the outside from the inside today.

Folded some zines of my book “Alaska Native Resilience: Voices from World War II” for the Alaska Native book fair next week! 📚 🐛 🗃️
Out of curiosity, is there an inflation-adjusted version of this graph?
The most mind-bending alliance that’s come out of Trump 2.0 IMO isn’t “No Kings” cishet liberal wine moms and genderqueer communists, it’s the Pope Leo-era Jewish Atheists and avowed Papists.
Always a good day when the Brooks Range is involved. Helped out at work with a cargo run to Anaktuvuk Pass this afternoon with one of our pilots.
This is real

Wait so we have a holiday where we sing a song about animals, followed by a lot of days of counting, then we have a holiday all about how good it is to read?? Is this a religion or Sesame Street?
If you were reading a history of the Gilded Age and encountered a tycoon who kept pushing insane conspiracy theories about declining white birth rates and who used his vast influence to kill off nearly a million people in Africa, you'd very easily conclude that person was a white supremacist.
more seriously: both an adult life spent teaching and an adult life spent on message boards and sites like this one have underscored to me that reading and communicating about reading is very much not a trivial skill. the recent tech developments further underscore this for me
People don’t wanna put two and two together with what he did to usaid and him putting up those maps of global birthrates and saying white people are being replaced
Social media algorithms would be like 75% less toxic if we replaced likes with dislikes
Exactly
I vote against the party I think will do the most harm.
Maybe it’s a meaningless semantic distinction for others, but I think of voting not as “choosing” a lesser evil, but as a pragmatic strategy for keeping power away from the people who least deserve it.
