What do you think is the least that would need to happen for people to no longer act normal?

Just overheard at the airport: A gate agent directly addressing another person (an IT guy) with 'IT', as in 'Hey IT, how's your day going so far?'. Wild. Will I ever be referred to as 'Data Science'? Or 'Requirement Engineering'? Or 'Segmentation Fault Debugging'?

Afaict it used to be common to talk about “Putzfrauen”, cleaning ladies, in German. Afaict it is now — in certain circles, that is — more common to refer to them as “Putzkraft”, cleaning force. I’d love to be referred to as engineering force or data force or something (without a hint of comedy)

This might be the first time after 10 years that boosted trees are not the best default choice when working with data in tables.
Instead a pre-trained neural network is, the new TabPFN, as we just published in Nature 🎉

2024 in Exercise Since another year has come to an end, I can’t help but ask the question: What does my exercise data have to tell me? I did very similar things in 2023 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019. Executive summary Som...

I tried to exercise on average once a day in 2024 and didn't quite manage to. This and more in my yearly review of exercise data:

If owls were herbivores and didn't eat other A/B sympathy tier animals such as mice they would certainly be S sympathy tier. Harmlessly grumpy, grumpily harmless
