I am a HCB purist and consider anything other than the raisins and spice that god himself intended is an affront to all that is right and holy. Addition of apple squeaks in and I will consider chocolate but lemon can get in the bin.

A white china angel with its head broken off, sitting on a desk next to a turquoise crocheted HIV vision.

A cat was trying to kill my crocheted HIV and broke this china angel. How bad an omen is this?

(I’m not really a china angel kind of girl but my granny gave it to me when I was small - apparently it looked like me)

I agree - science is not a religion but there are some people who take their belief in science being truth to the point of being a religion. They become unable to accept that whilst the scientific method is sound, there are evidence gaps. Or that there are some things outside current science.

Often wondered whether optimal systems even exist and concluded that as people are complex, even optimal will be clunky. There's a trope that the private sector have it nailed and it's just us hapless public sector types who are too disorganised, stupid or slow to sort it but I don't believe it.

Primary school teacher. Me and my colleague who teaches the other class take turns to make maths worksheets for both classes to do. Made him one where the answer to every single sum is 67 and you could hear the shrieks across the school.

There's a big push in medical research circles at least to be better at this. Ideally you ask people to self describe, tho that does get tricky for statisticians so an alternative is two boxes, one to self describe followed by a 'pick the closest from this list' option. But progress far too slow.

The most🤬part of the UK PR firm that has made-up it's own GivetoGain theme for #IWD2026 is that they actively tell their audience to support non-profits and give without saying they are a for-profit private corporation selling themed goods with no charitable donations on it's accounts for 10 years.

It's the morning of IWD, and I've had 92 nominations so far, from 9 countries.

I've replied to each of the 24 that have posted about IWD. eg: www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...

Keeping an eye on the others. Keep the nominations coming. Keep an eye on the comments.

I was on a forum in the 00s where frequency of towel washing was such a contentious subject that even now, 20 years later, friends from that era use it as a short cut for “massive argument out of nothing”

There’s more to add in - you use the charge speed differently in different situations eg slow chargers for overnight and fast chargers for on the go. Approach is different to petrol - don’t always charge full to empty and often charge when you stop rather than stop to charge. Complex equations!
