A German fan of NEONnoir went out of his way to create a limited edition NEONnoir box, complete with a German manual, stickers, postcards, and even a poster!
Best of all, he sent me one that I can display next to the original!
Thanks to the good folks at Amiga Vault, I have uploaded a WDHLoad version of NEONnoir, making it even easier to play the game!

The original NEONnoir was released a little over 2 years ago, and was also done as a game jam entry. Today, my stance on AI art has changed significantly, and I haven't used it since in my projects nor do I expect to in the future. This, being a notable exception as I ported a preexisting game.
It wasn't until I went to submit the game that I realized that the jam doesn't allow AI-generated art. When I made the original, I used a combination of 3D renders, hand drawn pixel art, and AI. Sadly, it's too late to replace the AI art with real art and so, I can't submit. My fault really.

With just 20 hours left to go until the jam ends, should I be... um, what's the verb here? Bskying? Bluing? Should I be writing a post rather than code? No, definitely not. But I can now play though all of act 1 in my game, and that's worth celebrating! 🎉Ok, enough dopamine, back to the pixel mines.

Some more progress on the #GBA version of NEONnoir. I've updated my tooling in order to update the assets for the GBA. The resolution is smaller (240x160 rather than 320x240) and the hotspots and text positioning are in all the wrong places.

Oh, and definitely totally necessary, I upgraded the screen on my original GBA SP. It looks so much better. Does it help me make the game faster? No. Does it make me happy? Very yes.
A week and a half. It doesn't look like much, but a lot is happening under the hood. I'm learning how to dev on a GBA, got backgrounds, sprites, music, sfx, input handling, and, most importantly, it's reading (but not displaying yet) all of the original Amiga game's data! #gamedev #gba #amiga
