My colleagues have been working around the clock on this story. There are still many hurdles in the way for mining companies to begin their operations but a major one just came down today.

@startribune.com Columnist Dennis Anderson went to fish in Cuba last month. He told me he was concerned with going during a time of shortages and blackouts. Now back, he reports he not only caught big fish but made friends along the way.

First article in a new series looking at outdoor recreation in Minnesota! We're following ski resorts that are still open up north after some fresh pow fell last week.

A proposal at the Minnesota House not only defines what e-motos are but how they should be regulated. That includes having owners register them like dirt bikes are. #minnesota www.startribune.com/electric-mot...
Someone please tell Epic that 30 is the new 20 and that their “young adult” pass should be under 45 not 30. Us millennials need a break too!!!
Andddd the Apostle Island ice caves are closed after a winter storm broke up much of the ice. It opened for the first time in 11 years on Monday and closed the day after because of the storm. Incredible that I was able to see it. www.startribune.com/apostle-isla...
After 11 years the Apostle Island Ice Caves will be open to the public! Hope to see you there on Monday

I'd just released my fourth bass of the day when I got a call from the @startribune.com's music critic on Saturday. He had an extra ticket to my FAVORITE up-and-coming band Katseye and I could tag along with him. That started my brief career in music journalism: www.startribune.com/katseye-minn...
Toured the Bouldering Project's new gym in St. Paul and whoa. There's infrared panels in the yoga studio that can heat up the room to 105 degrees. A large cave nicknamed “The Arch” and a co-ed sauna! www.startribune.com/new-st-paul-...

White-tailed deer mounts are piling up in basements and attics everywhere. But you could cash in on the taxidermy bear or moose. Here's why:

Had a blast with this story and yep I rode in one of the cars (before the derby) and got minor whiplash after we bumped into a wall #demolitionderby #mn
Our Minneapolis mass shooting coverage is outside of the paywall. We will be updating this article live as we get more information.
Two children were killed in a shooting Wednesday at Annunciation Church in south Minneapolis, a source confirmed. The gunman is also dead, the law enforcement source said.
Hi @liberallady.bsky.social I'm Alex Chhith and I'm a reporter from the Star Tribune. I'm working on a story about the number of boating permits that have been issued since July 1. I'm looking for people's perspective on the test and was wondering if you took the test.
My story on going to the Boundary Waters for the first time is up!! This is one where you won’t be afraid of looking at the comment section!! #outdoors #minnesota

Had the absolute pleasure of meeting Minnesota's 'Queen of Walleye' for this story. Was floored she was raising all these fish in the basement of one of the DNR's buildings in St. Paul (the floor above the hatchery is filled with cubicle offices).

Linking Minnesota park passes to vehicle registration could mean lower costs for visitors and more revenue for the state, the DNR says.
Had a glorious time fishing!! Caught this lil monster. Also caught my first northern pike who unhooked itself as he was about to board the boat - so no picture of that little guy but I have witnesses lol
Could not have asked for better weather. Saw a total of two ticks (on the ground), only had one mosquito filled night, mostly sunny and a very low wind weekend 🫶🏽
BWCA photos incoming: first up this little guy I caught. Was going to use him as fish bait but he reminded me too much of my pet crayfish I had in the third grade so I released him.
Cheaper than a gym membership 😌
Youre good with a Missouri boating permit!
