He begged and begged for his pedals to be taken off. Two little rides down a slight decline in his school’s parking lot, with two peers that had been riding for some time, and CLICK. A cyclist was born.

“Can we take your pedals off?” “No! Never. Ever!”

Our oldest (5) graduated from balance to pedals after about 5 minutes of peer pressure last week. Our youngest (3) has been balance biking since Christmas and we’re going to pick up a pedal bike for him this evening because he seems ready for them!

Plus we did a full bike to/from the park today! 😊

Can confirm! Did make me second guess my safety more than usual, but I have hauled lumber of unreasonable lengths on my cargo bike short distances. 😂

Had to explain this to quite a few folks over the years. One of those words you can’t always just drop without someone asking what the heck you’re talking about. Even in dev/ops circles. 😬

Those folks still get a nod but it’s a little reluctant. 😂

Mostly because it’s almost always a situation where if they just went I could slow down and then get going again but was instead forced to stop completely.

But you can still have a nod for not killing me and my kids! 😊

This is my ‘what’s a conspiracy theory you believe in?’ answer. And it’s a weak answer because lead exposure is very real, but I do think lead pipes and leaded gas have really ruined general discourse in very real ways. 😂 😭

I try not to antagonize too much because I don’t want to get killed, but I was without child in this instance and had plenty of room to bail if the dude pulled something. I did also tell him to read the rules of the road but didn’t really think I was changing hearts and minds either way that day. 😞

We have to cross a highway to/from my son’s school and more often than not the commuters will stop and let us make the left we need to get back into residential territory.
Always give a big wave! 👋🏼

One dude told me I should be on the sidewalk. He seemed confused to be told to fuck off… 😬

Had to call out someone for just casually dropping in a discussion that Elon is actually pushing for universal high income. Is he? Why normies feel the need to push billionaires nonsense like it’s a fact is wild to me.

I watched some biohacking dude talk about a laser and was curious how much it cost ($6k!) and now I'm going to be followed around the internet by biohacking freaks until the heat death of the universe.

I feel you. 😂

I do not personally know Norm but, based on everything he’s done, he’s a damn good egg.

I do now! And also I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a shot like this before. Pretty cool way to visualize (and apparently get a signature of) a plane’s passing.

Oh geeze. Right in front of me. Thanks!

Asking for a…friend… how does one get invited to the @ed3d.net discord?

2 days ago 0 0 1 0

Yeah. As a father of boys I was more or less fine with calling then all 12 year old boys. I’ve got a few years to make sure mine dont act like that, but even if they do, they’ll be 12 year old boys and not grown ass adults acting like it. 😂

Is residential permit parking another difference between Chi/NYC à la alley/street garbage?

Everyone in Chi needs a sticker and then certain areas have permit parking. Extra cost to add that to sticker and also need to purchase guest passes. Not like that there?

And project red because it’s too charitable I’m sure.

I THINK it’s currently on sale or was very recently because my wife came home with 8 jars the other day. 😂

It’a on the end and we don’t even have to go out of our way to quickly check if it’s on sale. And even if it’s not there’s no way it’s still not a better deal than 10.99 a jar. C’mon, Jewel!

ONE 24oz jar at Jewel is 10.99. For one penny more at Costco, when on sale, you get TWO 31.7oz jars. Crazy.

Just did a quick search in Chicago and woof! At Jewel (probably on the more expensive side generally) it’s a spread of .19/oz to .46/oz. We’re a Rao’s household (they pack in tight around the lazy Susan shelves) but ONLY if on sale at Costco (.17/oz)

Misconduct. In THIS administration. The words just don’t make sense in this article. 😂

I generally tell him this while cargo biking around the city. So I’m also THAT asshole. 😂

It’s wild. And just another way I learned I’m an asshole from Chicago I guess. 😂

If my kid doesn’t grow up to be an insufferable YIMBY on housing I will have failed. Every lot or building being redeveloped I tell him we’re getting new neighbors and that it’s awesome to get new neighbors. 😊

Learned that back in my 20s when I smacked into a tree with my chest while mountain biking. Even being young-er that took me out for the rest of the biking season that year. Woof.

Ding ding ding! I can only assume most people do not know this? That you can just dream up a marketing campaign around these things, pay GWR to come verify it, and bam, ‘world record’!

I think John Oliver did a segment years ago. Ever since I lose a bit of respect for folks that brag about them. 😞

A cousin in my family who is definitely politically right but really doesn’t post much directly, shared a years debunked post about how social security is going to be called a ‘benefit’ now (it’s always been defined that way) and how upsetting that was.

There is nothing they won’t whine about.

THAT World? Oof.

Automatically read this to tune of Hallelujah and it took a beat to realize it wasn’t that bit. 😂

Our ‘smart tv’ regularly drops its internet connection requires you to fully re-login to WiFi. How? Just. How.

Tonight my wife says ‘push the cube button’, a button I never push and don’t know the actual purpose of.

The UI blinked, it made a sound, annnd, it immediately connected again. Wut.

Remember when Microsoft sold versions of various brands that came ‘clean’. How bad is it these days outside McAfee? I assume they still pre-load a ton of other things?
