General good rule of thumb, don't repost "news" from breaking events from non-reporters that fail to include links.
City councilors are exploring a controversial approach to addressing residential and retail vacancies.
Councilors hope a fee on vacant spaces will make them more accessible. Property owners say it's a bad idea and will further drive away investment.

The Lloyd District gets a lots of visitors, but has very little of what makes Portland Portland. This is a great way to start changing that.

Post from Amanda Gorman’s Instagram that says amandascgorman Minneapolis, Minnesota For Renee Nicole Good Killed by ICE. on January 7, 2026 by Amanda Gorman They say she is no more, That there her absence roars, Blood-blown like a rose. Iced wheels flinched & froze. Now, bare riot of candles, Dark fury of flowers, Pure howling of hymns. If for us she arose, Somewhere, in the pitched deep of our grief, Crouches our power, The howl where we begin, Straining upon the edge of the crooked crater Of the worst of what we've been. Change is only possible, & all the greater, When the labour & bitter anger of our neighbors Is moved by the love * better angels of our nature.
Amanda Gorman wrote this poem for Renee Good and that’s it for me tonight.
This video of what appears to be the wife of the woman who was shot and killed by ICE today, taken immediately after the shooting, is one of the most horrifying things I've seen in a while. I'm speechless. I hope this woman is safe right now.

The irony of the current public health regime trying to falsely link childhood vaccines to autoimmune disorders is that they are attacking research that acknowledges gender...when autoimmune disorders primarily impact women.
Can't a Texas girl listen to Buddy Holly in peace anymore????

PITTSBURGH'S Public Source Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh journalists return to their jobs at the Post-Gazette after three years on strike After a court ruling in their favor, long-striking journalists declared victory and returned to a pivotal Southwestern Pennsylvania newsroom. They return as union organizing continues throughout the region. Stephanie Strasburg November 24, 2025
Natalie Duleba, local secretary of the guild, hugs Jon Schleuss, president of the NewsGuild Communications of America, as she hands him the mic. "The first day of this strike, our folks went over across the street and they sat down at a table, and they started talking about that they were going to take care of each other," said Schleuss, acknowledging the guild could not have known how long the path back to work would be.
