This is so disturbing. When will Republican leaders speak out against such practices?

Reflections on Restorative Justice as Lived Religion: Comparative Notes from a Rural Reservation Town in Upper Michigan | Contending Modernities How might construing restorative justice practices as lived religion inform a moral and spiritual account of the broader ways we dwell together in communities?

In this response post, @dramycarr.bsky.social tests Springs’s transformative theory of justice and reconciliation by drawing on a story of corruption and reconciliation from the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.

Pope Leo's religious community is drawing renewed interest. Here's what makes it unique "Before, we might get two or three discerners. But after Pope Leo, I now have 15. It's unbelievable."

@derosejason.bsky.social - thanks for this story! Pope Leo's Augustinian order is seeing a 'Leo bump'

The mantras that have been circulating in my thoughts since January: trust and truth. How to cultivate them, even when both are under attack?

This behavior is indistinguishable from the worst secret polices of fascist regimes of the 20th century.

I have just been thinking also along these lines - after a high school reunion, visiting my hometown: being with each truth (of thought or feeling) we find in ourselves or others, as they arise, but seeing beyond then too. Worship feeds our ability to see and remember a larger horizon

Sounds like Augustine’s story of the youth stealing pears just to feel a feigned sense of omnipotence through transgression of neighborly norms

Nothing like a Billy-Ray Belcourt poem to speak to the paradoxical truth of things. Like this line from We Were Never Meant to Break Like This: 6. The future is already over, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have anywhere else to go.

Have you shared this with Senator Ernst? It is the sort of thing Cynthia Moe-Lobeda suggested doing in a recent FB post

Like this shouldn’t be a controversial statement. I don’t want a Dem admin telling Liberty University what it can teach either….

One line that caught my eye: " There is no shame in this administration — and that, in and of itself, should deeply deeply concern us as citizens."

AI Search Has A Citation Problem We Compared Eight AI Search Engines. They’re All Bad at Citing News.

An interesting article about just how often generative AI is incorrect with news and citations. It can cull/create patterns, but without embodied human testing of the meaningfulness of those patterns with regard to the realities they are describing. www.cjr.org/tow_center/w...

Some 1949 wisdom from H. A. Overstreet from his book The Mature Man - an excerpt from his depiction of a not mature man. The friend who shared this thought it depicted Trump quite well.

Thinking of how the 381 version of the Nicene Creed brought together the most enduring insights of the Arians (the Father and Son are distinct) and those affirming the full divinity of the Son.

It depends on the issue and the local community, I suppose--even though there are larger trends. Misusing the term "heresy" has been around a long time; as if disagreement about an ethical or gender norm constitutes heresy, rather than holding onto a partial truth and missing the paradoxical whole.

We had our MLK event today at our 100 year old COGIC church, with all those folks present—the mayor and sheriff are Catholic; mainline pastors came; laity from various religious backgrounds. Maybe a smaller community makes a difference to some extent
