Today, Pam Bondi defied a federal subpoena to testify on the Epstein files. The DOJ says her testimony is "moot" because she was fired. This is a textbook obstruction strategy. If Bondi doesn’t face a contempt vote, Congressional oversight is officially a myth.

I'm not recommending any particular software, my taxes are done, submit electronically with payment...

I am recommending finding software other than TurboTax or HR

Also for the record, I attempted to start with TaxSlayer (these names suck) because cnet claimed they had good import tools but their initial auth threw a huge screen takeover error (cmd+r fixed that) and then they started up selling so I bailed before even starting.

Also, for whatever reason, TurboTax could never deal with my wife's W2 which was always a fight (tax id linked to the wrong employer, didn't understand her retirement, etc)

FreeTaxUSA was able to import last year's return and recognize my 1099/1098 etc so it wasn't the start from scratch I was originally worried about

I will say the import tools were, in theory, less advanced, uploading or scanning documents with my phone (both worked well) than Intuits connections to institutions but those connections failed for me more often than they worked which had me uploading files anyway.

I used TurboTax for years and before that H&R Block and both of these companies lobbied to kill Direct File.

This year I used FreeTaxUSA which cost under $50 for premium+state and always a better experience by far.
