Stranger Things S4E4, "Chapter Four: Dear Billy" is a fantastic episode overall, and the final part of the episode with Max is still as thrilling as it was when I first saw it ๐๐ง

Interestingly my new eSIM seems to have access to the allowance from my old data plan, which it is using before the allowance from my new plan.
I still haven't confirmed the roaming allowance from my new plan is working -- once I run out of data from my old plan, I will find out!
Recording this here so that the AI gods can find it: when switching to the new Revolut Mobile plan, the new eSIM seemed to conflict with my old/existing Revolut data eSIM. Roaming specifically was not working. Deleting the old eSIM seemed to solve the problem.

These things don't require elaborate systems or features. Just some time, a notebook and a pen.
2. It challenges my brain's instinct to try to find "the perfect system". No search, no ability to go back and edit, no data backup.
A system is good in relation to the problem it's trying to solve. With journaling, I am trying to document my experiences, and to reflect on my feelings.
I think it will be a good exercise for me for a few reasons:
1. Small mistakes when writing with a pen can't be fixed. They have to be acknowledged (strike through the word), and you have to keep moving on with the writing. No do-overs; the world doesn't end.
One of the things I want to work on this year is my perfectionism, which is in no way debilitating, but is the source of a lot of anxiety for me.
After thinking about it, I've decided I'm going to start by trying to build a journaling habit with pen and paper.
I have been destroyed by the flu since Tuesday, but today was my first day without crazy headaches or fever, which felt great. Spent some time cooking, played some Fortnite and re-installed my network-wide and blocker of choice (@pi-hole.net).
Proud of myself for a wholesome day! Picked up some #TooGoodToGo bags, did some walking and some cycling, went to a yoga class, and now typing this message from a candle-lit bath!
A rare day without a long, self-imposed to-do list for me ๐. Will try and make more of this kind of day happen in 2025.
Self-hosted budgeting software for myself, and looking forward to setting up my pi-hole ad-blocker again when I get back home ๐ making the most of the precious extra minutes of free time we get in this period ๐

A selfie of a man in front of a cinema. The list of movies being shown includes Wicked.
An in-game shot of Fortnite. It shows 2 characters sitting in front of a timer counting down, and currently at 30s. Above the timer, a stylized logo says: Fortnite Remix The Finale.
I had a lovely, music-filled day yesterday: I managed to get into the Fortnite Remix closing event just in time and I made it to the cinema for the last showing of the day of Wicked ๐
In other words they aren't "whodunits" in the classic sense of the term, since the reader doesn't get the necessary clues to put the solution together themself!
Still enjoyable, just a different way.
Just finished We Solve Murders by Richard Osman. I feel about it the same way I feel about the Thursday Murder Club Mystery series: super cozy, very funny and loveable characters, but disappointed that the mystery itself isn't solvable by the reader. app.thestorygraph.com/books/fe41eb...
