When you take the double decker bus through the Massey Tunnel
#transit #vancouver
Is this real?! What is real?!
👀
In Vancouver, we are in the sweet spot; a lot of our region allows people to live without a car but there are still a lot of car-based destinations. Also, they get a huge subsidy in the form of free unlimited curbside parking anywhere. Uber probably blunted their momentum and AVs will even further.
I used a bike rack this weekend that exists because I complained about it not existing.
You can make things better, even just a little.

Totally agree! We're working on both; I think we have to keep working on both. The new corridors really get people worked up, queueing us up to have the op funding discussion in tandem.
This could actually lead to an interesting line of advocacy, arguing: the SkyTrain to UBC will happen. Premier Eby, do you want to be the one that funds it or do you want it to be your successor?
While Vancouver drags its feet on improving four measly bus routes, a true world-class city, Vienna, is looking to speed up 29 tram lines and 135 bus routes, basically its entire surface transit network. The city will invest 2 million Euros annually until 2030 on transit acceleration measures.
“All door boarding” is something that felt like it would be nice to have eventually but I did not sense the urgency to advocate for it UNTIL I HAD TO TAKE #3 to go to Mount Pleasant OMG OPEN ALL THE DOORS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
This accurately reflects how difficult some people think the gondola is, although it seems hilarious when you think of how many ski hills have them.

Iberville & St-Joseph: le pire arrêt de bus à Montréal?
I am confident that one day we will have SkyTrain to UBC and gondola to SFU. We need to band together and fight for funding, and elect leaders who make them a priority.
If you care about these things, then @movementyvr.bsky.social is for you.
I wish that were a correlation we could make but NB is the province that probably best fits that description
It looks like there's a pretty decent correlation between satisfaction and tax rate?! Higher provincial taxes means higher satisfaction?
Thanks, I hate it
Urbanism is great. And possible. This is West Vancouver
I would happily have less leg room (there's usually more than I can use) for a guaranteed window
Seems legit. I haven't been following the debate, but are people talking about automating Line 4 and extending it along an elevated guideway with shorty Canada Line stations to UTSC?

I have used this chart to radicalize many.
a 3-ish metre wide residential pedestrian street with low- and mid-rise apartment buildings and a row of townhouses
We can build good density when we want to.

I just signed a @theactionnetwork.bsky.social petition: Justice for Vancouver TransLink Workers. Sign here: action.seiulocal2.ca/petitions/pe...
also, when people on bikes get hit 'they're ok' means they're not dead or dying. it doesn't mean they walked away from the crash.
COV councillors what are your ideas for preventing this from continuing please??? @lucymaloney.bsky.social @seanorr.bsky.social @ptfry.bsky.social
Our newest episode is out! Rodney & guest Damian reminisce about lessons learned on their past campaign successes, preventing cuts to buses and ION LRT service, and reinstating a late-night bus!
We also discuss the ALTO opposition and what meaningful consultation would actually entail. Links below!
Intercity transportation unlocks so much cool tourism
Yeah, it's enforced very occasionally but I have never seen it so compliant. All these cars are going to the bridge and there's no way to get on the bridge without an aggressive merge or very prominently using a bus only queue jump so I wonder if that raises the cognitive barrier to violation
