"Weak on crime"

Pope Derangement Syndrome strikes again.
My story on the 57 forest service research stations that are going to be closed is up now
AI image of Trump as Jesus was posted two months earlier by Nick Adams, special presidential envoy for American tourism. It was altered before Trump posted it, turning one of the soldiers hovering over Trump's shoulder into a horned demon that gives off anti-Christ vibes. WTH?
Forest Service biologist: "You can’t manage wildfire, whether it’s fuel reductions or climate, weather, invasive species, if you don’t know what changes are occurring in those dynamics." @jessimckenzi.bsky.social @thebulletin.org
Unnamed government official says this isn't about "generating cannon fodder." It's about "effective manpower generation."
Hall of fame FT correction
Another one of those what-if-it-happened-in-another-country moments:
The president is suing the government for $100 million dollars for searching his home for the classified documents he stole, and the attorney who represented him on those charges is currently leading the Justice Department.
Absolute must read by @thebulletin.org’s @jessimckenzi.bsky.social. One of the most thorough takedowns of climate coverage at The Free Press and the web of climate denialism: “the same narrow band of experts again and again.”

Over the weekend, LeMonde and @francoisdm.bsky.social published a VERY interesting image of what appears to be some of Iran's highly enriched uranium enroute to a secure base in Isfahan last June.
Amidst all this talk of seizing Iran's uranium, it's worth discussing in a little more detail...🧵
oh my god is it a calf, please tell me its a calf
i started working on this um, a while ago, and it doesn't feel especially urgent, but just in case you're curious about the classified 'national security threat' posed by wind farms (if you remember that):
judges have had the opp to review the classified docs and said "uh, no"
"I think I could do anything I want with it." As if entire countries are just there for his personal taking.
It might seem like conspiracy theories are everywhere today, and that people are more inclined to believe them than in the past.
But that isn't true, says political scientist Joseph Uscinski, in an interview with Bulletin contributing editor Dawn Stover @dawnstover.bsky.social.
Billionaires who sucked all the wealth out of the middle class don't belong here? Okay then
What he said.
It is *fascinating* to me how quickly some people have gone completely from “we all must work in the office! human collaboration is vital and only happens in person!” to “I can replace all these pesky people with chatbots!” Definitely some commentary there about our society and who gets to choose.
I interviewed an expert on conspiracy theories. My favorite part is when he talks about people who don't trust vaccines but DO trust medical science if they break their arm. You'll never hear them say "I don't trust Big Plaster. I'd rather have my arm grow back naturally, without a cast."
Truly unbelievable stuff. Just up there shamelessly lying his ass off
There are a very limited number of countries to which we sell the Tomahawk missile, and Iran isn't among them.
There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.
A montage of videos from the Iran war that shows what it looks, sounds, and feels like to be living in that part of the world right now.
So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:
- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.
They spent billions on regime change in Venezuela and left the Maduro's head of torture in charge.
They are now spending billions on regime change in Iran, knowing the most likely outcome will be harder line leadership.
We do not have serious people running our country.
These guys were selling t-shirts until they needed a war to cover up the intentional damage they did to the economy and the president's involvement in a pedophilia scandal.
