I enjoyed The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and I'd probably go watch it again but also the more I think about this movie the more it fundamentally infuriates me on how much it is a bastardization of one of my favorite pieces of media of all time
Really thought this was just a burger serving legs with a nice hat and a rooster tail for some reason
I'm trying not to ramble too hard. Movie was pretty good, stings because I wish the adaptation of my favorite game tried a little harder to be more than *just* pretty good

And as much as I'll give credit that Glenn Powell as Fox
OH MY GOD that could've just been Lubba, Fox still feels so genuinely out of place in this movie it took me out of it so bad, as much as I did love the surrounding Galaxy stuff, I genuinely could not get into him
The performances were really good, especially the highlights of Brie Larson as Rosalina and Charlie Day getting some more screentime as Luigi, and Benny Safdie's Jr. being surprisingly good.
The story genuinely did try to have some depth with some more fufilling character arcs and some surprise moments. But those moments can really only go so far with an arguably worse pacing
Right off the bat, my biggest sticking point, as much as I've shown grievances of Fox in this movie. In a weird sense I'm glad that reveal tempered my expectations a bit. For better or worse, this movie is just as good as the first one. But damn I really wish it tried to be more

Ryan Gosling isn't an actor I can say I'm too familiar with, having only really seen him in 2024's The Fall Guy. But he played the character of Dr. Grace tremendously showing the power of loneliness and finding companionship with Rocky
PROJECT HAIL MARY: 8.5/10
The cinematography was one of my favorite things about the movie, there's so many fun static camera shots while everything is being effected by various gravitational pulls. And the environmental design and lighting was also gorgeous
I can't say I was that familiar with the source material prior to the movie. The first I really heard about it was from my brother being upset about how much the movie was marketing Rocky, the alien lol. But the trailer looked good regardless and I was pretty amazed

The production design with the set of the submarine is phenomenal, and all the practical effects work is insane. You can tell how much Markiplier has a passion for the craft, but the story just.. Completely lost me
