I respect a lot of the philosophy behind bitcoin, wanting to have a currency decentralized from governments. I totally get that. But if a Saudi prince can dump 500 bln in, and then sell when it goes even higher on the backs of working people buying, that's a problem. The rich stole the BTC dream.

Sure, there will be another big thing that we can't even imagine right now. The internet had a lot of doubters. But even with the doubt, you could see it's potential utility as an everyman. That's why it got adopted. Lots of people are gonna lose their shirt chasing that next big thing.

It's future tech being developed based not on utility, but on the musings of people with a lot of money and not a lot of sense. SBF wooed investors with talks of an everything app, that you could even buy bananas off of it. That impressed a lot of investors. Lots of money, no sense.

Because, no matter the hype, at the end of the day it's people that are going to have to adopt a new tech. 3D films, against aggressive efforts, never became the default. VR is more affordable than ever, and is still niche. Will people want their paycheck in crypto? Unlikely.

The block chain, Metaverse, AI, how much is real and how much is show to shore up money? How many people are just trying to get in on 'The next internet' without really considering the actual utility. Or does that matter when you get billions in investments?

But, how is that going to be made profitable enough to justify half a trillion in investment upfront plus the upkeep. To get a thing that answers questions fast? I know people tout it making medical advancements but that's just theoretical. Can it find the cure cancer? Or is that investor talk?...

Years ago, some film directors swore up and down that 3D 60fps films were going to be the new standard. And like all the other times 3D was going to be the new standard, it never took off. AI feels like much of the same. Sure, there's utility to it to some degree, and no doubt impressive...

All this talk of #AI reminds me of all the talk a few years back about how web3 or the 'Metaverse' was going to be the next big thing. So much so that FB even changed its name to Meta. Years later, where is it? Hundreds of billions invested in the metaverse and for what? Consumer grade VR headsets?

Everyone in my age bracket did a big disservice to humanity dumping MySpace for FB. It was always inferior, but since it seemed exclusive because it use to be for college students only. What an unassuming Pandora's box that was.

Once that alt is made, artists will dump IG. I'm ready for that transition and an algo that will show posts to all followers and not just 10% and pay wall the rest. Espec. for show promotion, really kills participation. And I'm not giving Meta anymore $ to promo my open calls to reach my followers.

I respect Bluesky and how well it has been able to provide a great alternative to Twitter. But, I've never been big on using these types of apps and I know most artists aren't either. Instagram format really lends itself better for art based 'content'.

I really hope there is a #Bluesky type alternative to #Instagram soon. So many #artists, me included, rely on it for outreach. Especially my gallery, and the other one I work with, use it for open calls and promote shows as it's the most direct way to reach artists because that's what we all use.

The official POTUS account switched from Biden to Trump. Same with VP and FLOTUS. If you followed Biden, that's why you're now following Trump. I don't like it but it's not a conspiracy, Trump just took over the official account and Biden's posts got moved to a new account.

Excited to announce my upcoming solo show, 'Revenger', will open March 15 from 6-10pm at The 500x! This show will feature a large installation of the bright, colorful, amorphous creature works I've made over the past year. artgallery #art #gallery #dallas #dallasart #gayart #dfw #artist

I mean there is definitely sexual content in it, but some made it seem to be more prevalent than it was. Coppola's Dracula was waaay more sexual than this film.

Maybe I'm broken, but the new #Nosferatu movie is nowhere near as horny as people made it out to be.

Especially sucks since the US is so car reliant. But I guess that's always been the way of the US. Preventing substantive change at the will of an individual's money and power interest.

I understand why they'd investigate, it's almost too ironic to be by chance. But I suspect it's more likely a hardcore Elon stan was staying at Trump hotel and a poorly made car that has a tendency to randomly explode decided to do it's thing on property.

What a loss for everyone. We need EVs & it's infuriating that the most notable US manufacturer for EV's is ran by Musk and focused on producing cars with so many tech add-ons that they become unaffordable to most. Practical & affordable should be the way to go, but that's not sci-fi enough for Musk.

That's awful people got hurt and one died. Fucking Tesla. I'm sure they have a lot of brilliant people working for them, but are hindered by Musk's egocentric leadership. I wouldn't be surprised if they raised safety concerns and Musk just brushes those warnings aside.

HOLY SHIT. That's insanely violent. At least once they put the fire out it'll look better than it did before the explosion.

My ass is stayin home for #newyears I've had way too many adventures this year. I'm all adventured out.

The foolishness of my ego and audacity. A few weeks ago I had Chipotle for the first time in years with no adverse effects. And I, laughing in the face of God, thought I'd have the constitution and fortification to have a Freebirds burrito. Alas, my hubris has been my downfall.

It is really rewarding tho to go back and replay a level I face planted 50 times in and breeze through it. A hallmark of old DKC that I'm glad the new(ish) games have. Makes the attrition worth it. Sometimes.

Playing #donkeykong Tropical Freeze on #switch for the first time. Brutally difficult and picky with precision. Died 30+ times on one level. Made me so frustrated I wanted to throw my switch across the room. Rage quit 10 times. So yeah, it's just like the old SNES DKC games. 10/10. Would recommend.

I've actually rarely shown my own work in it. I mostly plan shows or offer curator opportunities for other artists in DFW. But it is a lot of fun to do. A lot of work, but fun.

What's probably more interesting is the 'why'. I'm doing end of year maintenance at my gallery in preparation for the upcoming shows in 2025. Doing this in an non air-conditioned warehouse is much easier in the Texas winter than in the Texas summer.
