I hope Senator Booker’s staff are at least a little puffed up. Those magical creatures deserve a parade. The binders. The timing. The well-coached question askers. @booker.senate.gov is obviously doing incredible exhausting work, but yall the admin and logistics here are also heroic.

Since Congress’s allotted funds have already been improperly unallocated, U.S. citizens are questioning whether they are legally required to continue paying federal taxes.

Why not spice up your 5calls voicemails? For instance, you can call chuck edwards a coward and you can ask thom tillis to dig inside his crusty dusty heart for a shred of courage or conviction, all while expressing your disgust at musk’s gov access. Petty *and* engaged. 😘

Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesn’t get to decide what gender a person is.

After presiding over the living room naked for a week, my little tree got trimmed today. Of course, I stuck to classic holiday motifs like #pickles, #rainbows, and #critters.

4 panel comic featuring a red guy and a yellow guy.

Panel 1: Red guy: How can you be smiling when a man has been shot dead?

Panel 2: Yellow guy: His company policies denied vital medical care to those who needed it. He profited off the death and misery of thousands of vulnerable people

Panel 3: Yellow guy produces a white sheet of paper and says: Here’s a photo of him while he was doing it

Panel 4: Yellow guy is holding a photo of a man with a huge smile on his face

It still feels unpleasant, but at least I know what’s happening so it feels much less overwhelming. 2/2

My job is extremely chill and I work with rad humans. Fully remote. Still, I’m on my couch side-eying my laptop, full of heavy dread about re-engaging after time off.
A few years into my adhd diagnosis, I understand this is in large part because my brain hates transitions. 1/2

Did you know? Black Friday is named in honor of Rebecca Black, who invented Friday in 2011.

Are we really calling them skeets and subskeets? And is it @hankgreen.bsky.social fault?

I participated in a sidesgiving tonight. No main. Just sides. 10/10 there was still too much food and nobody had to fuck with a turkey.

Several hand pies cool on a rack. They are leaf shaped, specifically elliptical with a slight point on each end. Slits have been cut along the middle and on either side of the pies to resemble leaf veins and to release steam. While baking, the middle slit expanded on each pie, revealing the red cranberry filling inside.

Thanksgiving test batch - Cranberry hand pies with orange glaze.
My vision was fall leaves 🍂 so instead of poking holes, I cut slits for leaf veins. I should have predicted this outcome, but I did not.
They taste great, but I may make different stylistic choices for the full batch. 😏

Instead of doom scrolling I’ve been playing a cozy witch game. Is my screen time down? Very no. Am I slightly less on edge? Yes.

If you’re ever surprised by how clueless we, as a people, appear to be sometimes, just remember that a scant 25 years ago The Blair Witch project came out and 90% of the population was like “holy shit is this REAL?!”

I’m only a couple books in, but Dresden definitely fits this model and it’s something I really enjoy about his character.

Renoir’s famous Luncheon of the Boating Party. It’s been a favorite since high school, and I accidentally came upon it when visiting a museum in DC for a different exhibit. I audibly gasped and then stared for ages.

Getting a little snow here in WNC today. Like most things right now, the beauty of it is laced with worry. Cute dogs help. 💕
