The recent announcement of the AES+ has my brain in Neo Geo mode this #ScanlineSunday. Here’s one of the few games only for the CD!

The “Calvin’s dad explains two types” meme, inspired by a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon. Clockwise from top left: 1) Calvin’s dad walks into frame to find Calvin trying to operate a record player. The dad says: “There are only two industries left in America: gambling, and fraud.” 2) The dad shows where the record goes, and how to turn on the player, while Calvin watches. Dad says “Derivatives? Gambling. AI? Fraud. Video games? Gambling. Social media? Fraud.” Calvin says “yeah”. 3) With one hand open palm up, Calvin’s dad cheerfully explains to Calvin out of frame below him, “The stock market looks like gambling, but it’s actually fraud.” 4) In bed in a dark room, Calvin clutches at his pillow, eyes wide in existential terror. There is no text in the panel.
PaRappa was remastered for PS4 in 2017. Vib-Ribbon not quite, but at least the 2014 PSN release works on PS3, PSP, and Vita. I just replayed it on the Vita last week, the visual style works well on an OLED
#ScanlineSunday GTA III, which I played a bit recently for the first(!) time. Some parts were still pretty impressive, like this rain effect.
Grand Theft Auto III (2003, Xbox port), 480p, YPbPr, Sony PVM-20L5. And Dolby Digital 5.1 if you could hear it
man i’m in exactly the same place. dying to share something i’m proud of and excited about that’s simply not done yet
american garbage bags: if they don’t say unscented, They’re Scented
that’s right
Depends where you live, but FB Marketplace and The CRT Collective on FB are probably best. Medical auctions near you too, or sometimes friendly electronics recyclers. Or become friends with a Guy in your area who always seems to have a bunch for sale lol. There’s also a sales thread in r/crtgaming 🙂
#ScanlineSunday - Final Fantasy VIII (1999, PS1), the last game I played through on my PVM-20M2MDU before getting the PVM-20L5 at the end of 2022. Because @philsalv.bsky.social made me think about it at GDC.
240p, PS2, YPbPr, in a terribly well-lit room (but dark tinted tube)
you want to talk about a console with no games? there’s no one left to make em!
The pink one is so good. Not enough devices today have a Yahoo! button
i haven’t been playing a lot of games i can use for #ScanlineSunday, but i’ve been looking at a lot of 90s Japanese art books, so how about
Galaxy Fraulein Yuna: Mika Akitaka IllustWorks, Vol. 1 (Saturn, 1996), 240p YPbPr, Sony PVM-20L5
truly one of the best to ever do it
every listing is scuffed on all sides, chewed on by dog, yellowed screen, no stylus, Like New $140. or sealed in box, graded $1200. that’s it
there’s no good reason it’s so hard to find a DSi XL with its original styluses (including the touch pen) for sale in the US. they sold almost 6 mil of these here, how are there NO listings with them? but also no one selling them separately? i’m going insane
It’s awesome how when your flight is delayed 3.5 hours for mechanical reasons, with 2 hours sitting on the plane before a plane change, the recompense is “get over it, be grateful you still get to fly at all”
The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive
It does too much to list here, but what’s pictured is a preservation and translation of network channels that existed in Japan for users to find and download games, videos, and info. Check the PSBBN GitHub for all the info!
Also, it was a very easy way to install Linux for PS2, so here’s a bonus
for a special #ScanlineSunday, i wanted to show off my obsession for the last week: PlayStation Broadband Navigator (PSBBN), by @cosmicscale.bsky.social and other talented folks! It’s a must-have for your PS2 HDD/SSD
PSBBN Definitive Project v4.10 (PS2, 2026), 480i YPbPr, Sony PVM-20L5
getting in under the wire for #ScanlineSunday
Jet Grind Radio (Dreamcast, 2000), 480p YPbPr, Sony PVM-20L5

these tariffs are going to bring the manufacture of 90s Sharp X68000 games back to american factories, where it belongs. dad used to come home late, covered in 5.25” disk shavings, until the plant closed
that’s why i’m paying 15% more for super real mahjong and fantasy zone.
god, he’s an idiot
I started using it last month, and it’s been great. The premise of genuinely user-focused software got me to switch to Orion on iOS too, which has integrated support for Kagi and has mostly also been great. Hard to say much more about it - “it’s what you actually want”

a map of electoral college votes behind an ascendant jeb bush, indicating 100% of districts voted not for democrats, nor republicans, but for Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation Prism (2025)
when the goty votes are all tallied up, i think the results will be obvious
Got it, thank you!
Let me know if you’re still able to provide this. DM is fine too if you want to share the raw file less publicly. (I would of course share the openMSX playable file after conversion.) No progress on my end getting a capture setup going :(
