Hey, if you're in the area, I'll be on @vermontpublic.org's Vermont Edition to talk about this week's Green Mountain Book Festival in about 20 minutes! www.vermontpublic.org/show/vermont...
What an amazing list!! And thank you for including The Midnight Club!
Book cover: "The Midnight Club" by Margot Harrison
Book cover: "Destiny's Way" by Jack Campbell
Book cover: "The Third Rule of Time Travel" by Philip Fracassi
Book cover: "Annie and the Wolves" by Andromeda Romano-Lax
What would you do with the power to travel through time? Perhaps you would savor a fond memory or try to prevent an impending disaster. Surely, we would all return that library book on time, right? 🤨
Let's go some-when else in time with this week's book list. 🧵

I did book coverage for 17 years for an alt-weekly—small, rural, always meticulously fact-checked. This is a good response, but it hurts to know that this is the standard being set.
I get that this was an ad supplement, but failure to fact check seems pretty typical of the lack of respect many media outlets have for book coverage. Hard to imagine a similar preview of summer movies that don’t exist—there would be an instant outcry.
Alt-weeklies still do real book content—including reviews by writers (like me) who actually read the book!
I reviewed THE LAMB by @lucyrosecreates.bsky.social and BLACK WOODS, BLUE SKY by @eowynivey.bsky.social. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/11/b...
Now we can fight the Nome King! (In the presciently titled TikTok of Oz (1914), eggs and TikTok are his nemeses. There’s also a joke about the price of eggs.)
I’m so honored by this review of THE MIDNIGHT CLUB!!
Just putting this here for posterity. I’ve never had a book that was called “big” or “buzzy” before. And this one took me 37 years to turn into something readable.
Vielen Dank!!! (Entschuldigung, ich habe fast kein Deutsch mehr.)
"The Midnight Club" von Margot Harrison:
Klasse Plot, neue Ideen zu Thema Zeitreise, Ideen, die nach dem Lesen im Kopf bleiben. Fehlt manchmal etwas Grundspannung in einigen Kapiteln.
@margotfharrison.bsky.social Your book was reviewed in German language

Thank you—I may be curious enough to review it!
If I didn’t like The Greatest Showman and know none of Robbie Williams’ songs, is there a chance I’d still like it? The CG chimp is turning me off.
This book is deliciously witchy and atmospheric and you want it!! Think Cape Cod horror with some very bad things washing up on shore.
I review for a newspaper (yes! a real print alt-weekly), but our last art-house theater closed, and the local mainstream theaters sure aren’t promoting The Brutalist. I didn’t receive a screener and have no way of writing about it.
The clock is ticking! The Midnight Club ebook is $5.99 on all platforms for a limited time.
In case you’d like to try a memory drug that looks like maple syrup and smells like Pine-Sol … I have one of those ebook sales going.
Explore @Gabino_Iglesias’s review of THE MIDNIGHT CLUB by @MargotFHarrison (@margotfharrison.bsky.social) calling it "a strong debut that brings together some of the best elements of time-traveling stories and mixes them with the atmosphere of a whodunit.” locusmag.com/2025/01...
Oh wow, thank you so much!!
I think I just tried to read the same story. “Miniscule” was the last straw.
Another fave: “I couldn’t find your book in B&N. Why don’t you do something about that?” (Me: The internet says the book is in that B&N and there’s nothing I can “do.”)
It’s all relative. When other authors post about getting floods of emails and DMs from readers, I see that as a mark of success because it’s a rare thing for me. A ton of “loves” on Edelweiss is also good.
