Etc

I think it's a stretch to claim that Iran benefits from this. Just because you guys lost doesn't mean that Iran is benefiting. It's going to be poorer and worse as a result of this war.

I think that's absolutely fair and I agree that arr is an iffy metric. However, the commercial value that the latest frontier models deliver is much higher than I had anticipated. So I really don't know at this point. I just know that I would be prepared to pay much more than I do right now.

You don't think they will? Anthropic are making more selling enterprise subscriptions than it costs to serve them. The reason they are in the red is r&d. I think the enterprise plans can get way more expensive too and still be money well spent for most companies if capabilities continue to improve.

I feel like we are also training ourselves in how to communicate in general when we talk to these things. I worry that if I don't say thank you to Claude I will also stop saying thank you to my coworkers.

I thought the claim was that it lifted the boundaries of software development. The counterclaim was that that was ontologically not true because it doesn't innovate.

I don't think innovation is necessary for lifting software development. I also don't know if modern agents can't innovate.

The anti LLM crowd. It is so easy to see and test what AI can do these days. One can have opinions on whether the training data is ethically sourced or that the big tech companies will get too much power or whatnot but these kinds of claims that they don't work are hogwash.

Could social media make us less polarized instead of more?

We tested 5 algorithms on 3 platforms with 10,000 people for 6 months during the 2024 election, and found that the answer is yes.

The identity part of a skip connection can be written as a convolution with the kernel [1]. I still wouldn't refer to that as a convolutional connection though.

What do you mean by help shape? Russia and Israel are two middle powers that are clearly vigorously shaping the world right now but I doubt they will be active in institution building for the next global order.
