We felt the hope and connection in our communities, particularly among young people who, like Stephen, still have ambitions to become the architects of a brighter future.

Today and every day, we renew our commitment to progressing racial justice and carrying forward Stephen’s legacy.

We saw that harmony last month when hundreds of thousands of people joined @togetheralliance.bsky.social for the biggest anti-racist demonstration in British history.

Hateful rhetoric is fuelling the rise of the far-right and contributing to a growing climate of fear, hostility and violence across the country.

The Runnymede Trust was founded in 1968, and our primary object since has been to promote racial harmony.

But today, politicians and the press continue to stoke division, scapegoating Muslim communities, migrant communities and communities of colour for problems that stem from those in power.

Racism is often a matter of life and death. This was especially true for Stephen Lawrence, a bright young man who dreamed of becoming an architect. Today marks 33 years since he was murdered in a racist attack, at just 18, igniting a national reckoning with institutional racism.

Facing antisemitism: the struggle for safety and solidarity Antisemitism is hardwired into UK society, but current methods of tackling it are not working

Our report with the Birkbeck Institute for the Study of Antisemitism calls for a different approach to combatting antisemitism. Read more on our website 🔗

We also continue to challenge rising Islamophobia, anti-migrant rhetoric and far-right ethno-nationalism, which rely on a reservoir of racist tropes, just like antisemitism.

No struggle exists in isolation and we must resist the politics of hate which only seeks to divide us.

overwhelmingly peaceful pro-Palestine protests with these antisemitic attacks, with serious repercussions for intra-community relationships and overall community safety.

Jewish communities here in the UK are put at heightened risk as a result and this is simply not acceptable.

Media and political narratives shape the way that people interpret global events and can contribute to fuelling misunderstanding and blame.

There is a false conflation of all Jewish people with the activities of the Israeli state, and there continues to be a misleading conflation of

These attacks are wholly reprehensible, they generate fear and insecurity for Jewish communities and offend the integrity of anti-racist solidarity.

Police-recorded hate crimes against religious groups have increased significantly in the past few years. In just the last few weeks, we have seen several arson attacks directed against Jewish communal buildings and properties.

We’re sending our solidarity and support to Jewish communities after a frightening series of targeted antisemitic attacks. Jewish people, like everyone else, have the right to safety and belonging where they worship, work and live.

Safety grows from the foundations of a flourishing society - secure housing, strong public services, connected communities, and systems that support people rather than punish them when they are most in need

Through a series of workshops across the UK, we explored how communities are already building responses to harm rooted in care, accountability and prevention, and what it would take to scale these approaches

What actually keeps us safe?

Drawing on polling of over 5,000 people across Britain, we found that over half of the public believe investing in social and public services would do more to prevent crime than increasing police numbers or powers

Stripped: The Citizenship Divide New research exposes racist reality of UK citizenship stripping laws that place 3 in 5 people of colour at risk.

Whether punishment for crimes committed by family members, or 'public good' interests determined by a single politician, the creep of citizenship stripping and deportation as regular political threats are dangerous and demeaning.

Goals for the game Discrimination in English football has reached record levels, from grassroots to the professional game. At the same there is rising concern about the tone of debate around immigration and identity within the sport, fuelled earlier this year by contentious comments from Manchester United’s co-owner Jim Ratcliffe. Samuel Okafor, chief executive of anti-discrimination organisation Kick It Out and a former professional footballer, tells journalist Kitty Melrose about the scale of the problem, potential reforms and why the game faces a crucial moment for change.

“Football still has a long way to go in terms of education and acceptance.”

Reform sack housing spokesman over ‘deeply dehumanising’ Grenfell comments Simon Dudley said ‘everyone dies’ and claimed ‘the pendulum has swung too far’ on building safety regulations

Reform's (now former...) housing chief, Simon Dudley’s comments about the Grenfell Tower Fire are shameful.

Last year’s inquiry found that all 72 deaths from the fire were avoidable.

Let’s be clear, no one should have to live in a home that could kill them. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

Police chiefs failed to tackle racism due to lack of leadership, watchdog finds Review finds no ‘meaningful impact’ five years after race action plan launched, amid calls for government to step in

This is wholly unsurprising.

As we have previously warned, reforms focused on increasing diversity and improving trust will always fail to deliver meaningful change because they don’t address the structural nature of racism.

We marched together, in joy and love, celebrating our differences and standing in solidarity against those who would try to divide us.

We're proud to have supported organising the march, and to have led the racial justice bloc, joined by so many other brilliant organisations and campaigners.

Joy will *always* triumph over hate.

This weekend, over half a million people joined the @togetheralliance.bsky.social march in London for a new chapter - the biggest demo against the far right in history.

The crowd was a mix of all ages, faiths, ethnicities and backgrounds.

Today, Loughborough Estate residents face sewage leaks, damp, mould, flooding, and fire hazards, and are being pushed into housing precarity by mismanagement and neglect.

We need immediate action to prevent further avoidable tragedies. Safe, dignified housing is a human right.
