this is my most time-consuming, most difficult series i have ever worked on. i put SOOOO many hours into making these pages look similar to what the authors intended, and i am hugely proud of it tbh. i learned (and still learn) so much working on Bug Ego!! please check it out!!

The problem with the manga industry is not that it takes too long to make manga, it's that companies want to treat manga like a fast food order and pump out as much of it as quickly as possible and it has trained people to not be okay with waiting while mangaka work themselves to death.

it's really easy to forget about lettering bc when it's good you don't notice it, it flows well, nice to look at. bad lettering stands out so much even if you don't understand it's the lettering. but people DO notice it feels worse to read and can be frustrating!!! these execs don't know or care!

Real talk, 10 years ago, I didn't even know lettering was a job (and an artform), let alone how important good lettering is in comics.

Lettering is one of those aspects of localization that is easy to forget about if it's good, but bad lettering can completely ruin your immersion.

A bunch of artists will lose work, the flow and immersion for the reader is ruined, the mangaka's vision is butchered...and they'll probably raise the price on consumers anyway.

you instantly make your consumers distrust you!! bleh!! bad taste in mouth, "maybe i won't buy from them again bc how do i know this wasn't ai?" personally, if i see companies using it, i avoid that company entirely. using ai tells me you don't mind being unethical & exploiting your workers. bye!!

your stupid ai plans to "cut cost and time" is already a losing argument. paying for skilled workers is part of running a business is it not? using ai makes you look cheap, and shows that you do not care about what you're selling, you just wanna make money. everyone sees it. it's embarrassing!

typesetting (only one part of lettering) is not just "put in text". you need to know what looks good and stupid AI does not know that! and every attempt at this has always been something ugly as hell, disrespectful af, that someone in my position has to clean up!! wasting everyone's time and money!!
