I never use the app, I just broadcast from spotify, so I have never seen those problems

I use Sonos. lots of people bitch about the app but it always just worked for me. Press a button on the top to add any speaker to the playing set, press it again to remove it. We use the Move as a garden speaker and we have a bigger one for larger parties.

Surrealing in the Years: 'Fuel protests' are bad news for a society that's given up on nuance Moments such as this are rich with uncertainty, a banquet for cynical opportunists.

"You can’t let society go to shit and expect everyone to be fine with it forever. At least not in a country that has this many tractors. " - Well said @carlkinsella.bsky.social

Employers should cover work-related travel and other expenses directly rather than require employees to float their employer an interest-free loan while subjecting them to a byzantine reimbursement process that will take at least a month and entail multiple rounds of paperwork.

Anthropic, who has eschewed all the fancy image and video shenanigans must be laughing it up a storm :-) Still love how Claude Code can knock out an svg favicon when it has to

WARNING on the latest phone scam -- which was very deceptive even to someone who writes about online fraud! Got a call from, supposedly, the bank -- flagging two suspicious charges -- walks me through need to reissue card, has my address to confirm (ugh...) and obviously has my mobile number. 1/

Google Has a Secret Reference Desk. Here's How to Use It. 40 Google features to find exactly what you need, the alternative search engines that do things Google won't, and the reference desk framework underneath all of it.

Most of us have no idea how throttled and controlled by Google our search results are. Great piece here on why, and how to make searches more about what you want, not what Google wants you to see. cardcatalogforlife.substack.com/p/google-has...

I like to give Ubuntu a spin every five years or so, dreamily hoping its installer is now working. No luck. See you again in 5 years Ubuntu.

The Gist: The Very Hungry Killerpillar Seemingly to their own surprise, the Trump administration goes to war with Iran. This is the Gist.

“The Trump administration is now slowly discovering that War is not an end in itself.

Fighting, killing and dying is not actually the purpose of a military.”

Quotes Falsely Attributed to Winston Churchill These fake quotes make for good storytelling, but popular myth has falsely attributed them to Winston Churchill.

A lot of the bon mots attributed to Churchill are things he didn't say. Don't take my word for it, listen to what the International Churchill Society say: share.google/RYLuiiuddQKL...

The political effects of X’s feed algorithm - Nature Among users initially on a chronological feed, 7 weeks of exposure to X’s algorithmic feed in 2023 shifted political attitudes and account-following behaviour in a more conservative direction compared...

Brainwashing, 2026 edition. This paper shows how X's algorithmic feed shifts people's views rightwards. It's a sophisticated, highly effective form of reorientation. And it is utterly chilling.
