This has been an open secret for years among everyone at Harvard Law but we're not supposed to acknowledge it officially.
It's completely perverting the entire profession and ensuring ideological capture.

screencap of a tweet with a photo at the bottom of JD Vance giving a talk, gesturing smugly with his hands Eric Daugherty • @EricLDaugh • 1h • JD VANCE RESPONDS TO POPE LEO: "When the Pope says that God is never on the side of those who wield the sword - there is more than a THOUSAND year tradition of Just war Theory." "In the same way that it's important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy, I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology." "And I think that one of these issues here is that there has been - if you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth, and that's one of the things that I try to do, and it's certainly something I would expect from the clergy, whether they're Catholic or Protestant."
I’ve given this a great deal of thought, trying to come up with the perfect joke for this moment, and this is what I have so far -
POPE LEO: our religion teaches that this war is bad
VANCE: wow, who died and made YOU head of the Catholic Church??
POPE LEO: well, you should know, you were there
Texas is losing $3.2 BILLION in tax revenue over the next two years to the tax incentives it's handing out to data centers, and this is probably an underestimate. Meanwhile, the state is struggling to fund things like education and disaster response.
A powerful man sexually pursuing a young woman who works for him is oppressive. It immediately limits and reshapes her future to her detriment, whether she is physically forced into it or not. It’s coercion either way, and that is why it’s so wrong. It’s an abuse of power.
We're on strike! Don't visit propublica.org on April 8
We’re on strike today! Support our fight for a fair contract by NOT visiting the @propublica.org website or engaging with ProPublica stories today.

What the last few years of watching some scholars and professors defend GAI universalization in academia has taught me is that way too many of us actually don’t like to do the work. ‘It finds sources for you’ ‘it writes for you’ ‘it comes up with teaching plans’.
Sir, I actually like doing all this
*extreme Maggie Smith–in–Murder by Death voice*
I like him. I really like him.
Hell yes! Another movie I can't wait to see this year!
My fellow writers might not want to hear this, but AI is a useful tool for certain aspects of the craft, like for instance when you’re engaged in the process of being a talentless shitbag hack who is too lazy to do any fucking writing.
Art is what humans produce out of their humanity. A human has to produce it for it to be art.
This is the only answer. Otherwise, it’s just sex Yahtzee.
I saw this thread circulating again today and, wow, it is wild to remember back to March 2025.
So many horrors could have been avoided if more of our institutions had stood up to Trump back then. And also—it’s never too late for them to start pushing back.
D6 or D20?
I’ve never needed something more than I need this.
I talked with @prisonculture.bsky.social, Alison Macrina, and Katie Clark about libraries as public infrastructure, contested political terrain, and spaces of possibility—and about what it means to fight for them in this fascistic moment.
That’s honestly adorable and really kind of coworker!
These billionaires are *terrified* of death, of aging, even if they're not at Blood Billionaire levels of desperation they are all frantically going through a mid-life crisis except with the resources of entire nations to toss at it.
It's interesting to think that one of the big drivers of generative AI is very extremely obviously the weird relationship with their mortality that billionaires have.
Middle-aged and over billionaires, desperately and pathetically seeking immortality, turning to whatever snake oil promises it.
Glades County Detention Center was shut down by ICE in 2022 for failing to meet its own detention standards, citing persistent failures in medical care. Trump reopened it in April 2025 with no evidence those problems were fixed.
ICE detention deaths are now occurring at a rate of roughly one every four days. Three weeks ago that rate was one every six days. The pace is accelerating, and Congress has not launched a single investigation.
Royer Perez-Jimenez was 19 years old. He died by suicide at 3am on March 16 at Glades County Detention Center in Florida. He is the 2nd person to die in ICE custody this week, the 13th this year, and the 42nd under Trump. 🧵
More details and context about what being a woman math major in the early-2000s was like and why it was so damaging here:

I forgot it can be so cold that my eyes water.
It took becoming a professor myself to realize the implications - what it means to be attracted to someone who categorically has less power than you. I don't know if it's disqualifying, but there are too many women not getting a platform as a result of behavior like this for me not to say something
If he's going to get a national profile on the strength of a younger woman's campaign, I'm going to come out and say it: during his short-lived tenure as a math professor, Biss had an inappropriate romantic relationship with one of his undergraduate students. I was that student.
also, just like the Supreme Court did in Skrmetti, this case cites Geduldig v. Aiello, a 1974 SCOTUS decision that said it isn't sex discrimination to exclude pregnancy-related conditions from insurance programs
they didn't mention nobody fucks w Geduldig anymore

"In some passage, which I cannot find at the moment,"
lmao i love that authors used to just be able to do this
You don't get to paper over the fact that they are bigots. They knowingly wanted to strip minorities and women of any historical representation. They killed projects simply because they had ethnic identities and genders attached.
Chicago Public Library card-havers: go put Chanda Prescod-Weinstein’s new book ON HOLD now!
CPL has 7 books on pre-order, and 3 holds placed. If you can’t buy the book, getting in line with a placed hold is a great way to tell the library they should buy more copies!
specific guys aside—it is politically and morally bankrupt to be told we must seriously consider how many is too many pieces of nazi flair
