Enjoying your analysis and want to add…I think this Sanji also feels more kindhearted as he’s still full on charm offense with the whole crew. And it is working! But not with Zoro and he hasn’t changed his tactic yet and is still trying. And it’s now a mix of “at least it’s at least annoying him”
It makes already more compromises to keep it as weird as possible as most… but most if you think about it for more than 10 seconds are logistically or for the medium to make it “work”. It’s not perfect and all adaptations need to shave stuff… but something 1-on-1 would work EVEN less
Why the show also doesn’t work with random clips as those removes the “boundaries” and rules it sets for it’s audience: that this world is weird and people look weird but you don’t need to question that if you engage with it and it’s in good fun with the comedy we will tell when it’s serious however
Many live action adaptations try to make it more “grounded and serious” and because of that don’t work. In tv shows especially you need to hold the audience hands more to “establish the rules” of the universe and I think OPLA did the best it could to make that clear and keep it lighthearted
Like many musical movies don’t work as the suspension of disbelief is different if someone is singing to you in person than on a screen. Animated media is a lot more free and has so suspense of disbelief in it’s design. You get away with A LOT MORE shit when you have the freedom of drawings
I am passionated about genres and mediums and how the rules and suspension of disbelief plays in that as reader, tv aand musical fan so let me jump in… lots of adaptations fail as it breaks tries to be something it isn’t or can be or refuse to compromise with the new rules of the new medium

I think that appeals to many people fear and disconnect from their sexuality and wanting to give in or lose control. Much of sexuality isn’t logical and feels out of your control and omegaverse just BLOWS UP that need times 100 and embarrassing need for comfort or protection outside logical consent
