Bit of a ramble, but I eventually get to the end: shawnawrightbrinson.substack.com/p/slow-walks...

It's easy to announce an endeavor, but harder to actually do the thing. Thankfully, this is fun and close to my heart. Round two: shawnawrightbrinson.substack.com/p/backstraps...

Linda was shot in the eye while covering the protests in 2020 after the death of George Floyd. She suffered a traumatic brain injury, lost her eye and entered hospice care last year. I'm giving her $50. If you can afford it, I hope you will match me: www.theguardian.com/us-news/arti...

PD is weird and so disconnected from STL. I *would* pay to read things like restaurant reviews + tornado recovery news, but mostly it's like an old friend that calls you up for coffee just to hit you up for a loan.

LOL I love how the Post-Dispatch wants you to pay to read an article by Dan Caesar titled “How to watch the cardinals on the Roku channel” when watching the cardinals on the Roku channel is free.

Form email newsletter opening that reads "Greetings from the cusp of Summer Shawna"

Going through the first round of morning emails in my inbox has been especially triggering this week, but "The Cusp of Summer Shawna" sounds like the name of a Ren Faire booth selling cider goblets. I like it! 😀

"I may not look like it, but I can lift a lot of surprisingly heavy and bulky things for a lady who works in a office."

I had a similar experience. It took a couple of gentle and self-effacing attempts for some elders to accept help.

Intrigued, but would not heed anything from just LinkedIn as a call from the universe.

Could you pay your bills if you stopped working? If everybody in your household stopped bringing in a paycheck, would you still have a place to live, groceries, healthcare, transportation, etc?

If the answer is "No," you're working class. Working class means you have to work to get by.

Highly recommended reading with explanation of "hypernormalism" (new word to me) and resistance through community and activism.

Thanks for the link! A sad wrinkle to clean-up efforts is that newly attended streets and yards make it easier to get in and steal.

I'm serious... could even make a premium (more expensive) subscription and I'd actually pay up knowing it was getting me access to info and helping people. Upside for everyone.

10 months ago 2 0 0 0

Free idea: PD makes a subscription just for local tornado coverage and gives the $$$ to folks trying to help + I take them up on it and quit putting up salty posts about their firewalls.

The Action STL relief site is completely out of drinking water, and there will be volunteers here for another couple hours yet. If you’ve got some spare time to drop donations, that would be super helpful! Bring donations to the O’Fallon Park Rec Center until 3:00. #stlouis #stltornado #stl

Celebs winking cosplay of dimwits + average joes in ads is worn out. Matthew McC isn't sitting at a cafe in the rain. Catherine O'Hara doesn't win at pickleball to get a beer. Kristin Bell isn't tracking about car values in case things get tight. Just stop. 🤪

Crossed my mind today. I'm not sure my mask was enough, but heartened to lend a hand and concerned about folks living there.
