Just like during Covid, conspiracy theorists are thriving amid the Middle East fuel crisis Conspiracy theorists are pushing the same ideas of attacks on civil liberties they did during the pandemic.

Moments of crisis often lead to spikes in misinformation.

New reporting shows conspiracy narratives are exploiting fears around rising fuel costs and geopolitical instability.

Reliable information matters more than ever.

A clear link emerged between how much people used different sources of information and belief in conspiracy theories. The more people trust journalistic media (even if they don't use it), the less likely they were to believe in conspiracy theories. The reverse was found for non-journalistic media.
