#EAAE2025 🚨: How large are European wheat yield gaps?
@moritzhartig.bsky.social will discuss our approach to estimate different yield gap levels, and will show insights into drivers.

We have 8 replication games over the next 13 weeks (Tilburg, Bordeaux, Brno, Galway, Berlin, Paris, Lyon and Ottawa)! Not too late to register to any of these events:

First up: two terms that often get mixed up 👇
🔁 Reproducibility = same data, same code
📦 Replicability = new data, same design
We unpacked these (and more) with help from Brodeur et al. (2024):

Inefficiency can be defined as "productivity differences across homogeneous optimizing agents" or less technical as "A firm is inefficient if the maximum output is not attained given a certain input level".
How would you define (in)efficiency in non-economic terms? #EconSky 📉📈
Back in 2017 we organised our first Econ of AI conference and we invited Bob Solow. Here was his wonderful reply that I feel OK sharing with you all today.
Dear #EconSky 📉📈
I'm looking for multiple small datasets that could be analyzed with a simple regression setting for a 5th semester course in agribusiness. Focus should be on agricutural production etc. with a farm-level setting (worldwide)
Any suggestions or leads?
Went through agridat already :/
Yes, thank you, that looks perfect! Also a good fit for Applied Econ Persp & Pol
Yes, thank you!
#EconSky 📉📈 , I'm looking for papers, blog posts, and other resources that have the sole purpose of showcasing descriptive statistics of newly available datasets. Any recommendations?

I was recently having a convo about publishing null results. I feel a paper like that should have 3 key elements:
1- ppl should reasonably expect there be an effect
2- estimate should be precise enough to rule out big effects
3- you're able to convince reader null effect is not an artifact

Hi #EconSky and #Agrisky! I am a PhD researcher at the IUSF Uni Osnabreuck (DE). I apply (choice) experimental methods to examine #agecon issues. My research topics deal with 1) farmers' preferences for agri-environment incentives and 2) the underlying behavioural facors shaping these preferences.

Hi #EconSky 📉📈, I'm a PhD researcher from the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (DE). I work at the intersection of agricultural and experimental economics. My research topics cover 1) farmer preferences for agri-environmental schemes and 2) sustainable food systems.
I can't stop staring at this figure. That jump is something I can't quite process.
Both played a vital role in sparking my interest in further pursuing econ in grad school + PhD now. Great Department you’ve got over there!
Topics in Public Policy and Money and Economic Activity with Ken Snowden and Econ of Technology with Al Link. A couple other classes as well but I don’t recall.
If I ever get the chance to come back, I definitely will.
I did a year abroad at UNCG back in 2018! Best time of my life at Tower Village 🙌
