intelligence? what intelligence? This is a truly wild exchange between the President and a reporter: When the president arrived in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Friday, a reporter asked him: “What intelligence do you have that …

We really are governed by the dumbest possible people. #trump #iran

somehow, we still haven’t learned that we can’t bomb our way to peace in the Middle East Our Dear Leader decided this weekend was a good time to distract from his falling poll numbers and likely failure on a budget take us into a misguided war with Iran because Bibi Netanyahu told him …

My take on Trump's moronic escalation on Iran: history shows those who pay attention that you can't bomb your way to peace in the Middle East. But that would require Trump to know anything about history. #iran #nomorewar oldfashionedpoliticsblog.wordpress.com/2025/06/23/s...

even Fox News polls are bad for Trump Bad polling news from Donald Trump, this time from Fox News, of all places. A new poll out from them yesterday has Donald Trump’s approval at 46%, and 54% disapproving. You know its not going…

you know its getting bad when even Fox News has Trump almost 10 points underwater

Well crap. Time to go stock up on coffee yall. Because no matter how much he wants you believe the lie otherwise, theses actions mean that Donald Trump just slapped a 25% tax on your morning cup of joe. But hey, at least that one trans girl can’t play sports or whatever.

A Little Glimmer of Light, Deep in the Dark A Homily for the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul

I wrote a little homily today, for the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, reflecting on the week that it has been.

And I even manage to work some Lord of the Rings in too.

Donald Trump is logical conclusion of the Citizens United decision All of this, for another corrupt politician betraying American voters

My new essay is up: Democracy only works when the voice of the people is the strongest and most influential consideration for those in power. Citizens United was the final step in a long war by corporate interests and wealthy donors to quash that voice, and replace it with the almighty dollar.

Daily Diary, 1/14/25: Criminalizing Homelessness in Oklahoma Just when I think we've plumbed the depths of disgusting and immoral legislation in this state, here comes brand-new Republican state senator Lisa Standridge, who has kicked off her term of office by introducing a bill this session that makes it illegal for towns under the population of 300,000 to provide homeless programs and services, including providing shelters. For reference, that means the only municipalities in Oklahoma who could provide homeless services would be OKC and Tulsa (which only barely clears the bar.)

Daily Diary, 1/13/25: The policy ignorance of Elon Musk Kevin Drum highlights the completely ignorant policy-influencing of Elon Musk, noting that part of the continuing resolution that Musk worked so hard to kill included reforms to Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), who effectively serve as middle-men skimming dollars from patients trying to access their prescriptions. The CR included bipartisan language that would reign in this kind of consumer fraud, which Elon was on X last week being typically ignorantly angry about.

Because outsourcing policy decisions to an unelected billionaire with an overinflated ego and underwhelming grasp on reality is probably going to end badly.

Love really struggled. He was also throwing to WR4s, missing his best OL, with zero run game, against arguably the league’s best defense. Context matters.

It doesn’t even matter if the Packers win, we won’t have enough players left to field a team next week.
