Also, if you borrow an author's book from a library in the UK, that author gets more than 12 pence per loan in Public Lending Rights. Any author can earn up to £6,600 per year this way.

The concentration camps where Israelis have been torturing Palestinians are now death camps. But it’s okay, according to racist scum in the West, because it’s “democratic”. May you all rot in hell.

BREAKING: Israel's Knesset has passed a law to execute Palestinian detainees.
Death by hanging. Mandatory sentencing. No pardon. 90 days to carry out.

It applies through military courts with a 96% conviction rate. It does not apply to Israelis.

Just to clarify, since some don’t seem to understand: 1) This death sentence will be delivered by military courts, there’s no jury, no representation 2) These military courts try Palestinian children 3) A child who throws a stone can be deemed a “terrorist” and now put to death.

Numerous Israeli politicians have said things to the effect of “there are no innocents in Gaza”, “they are all collectively responsible for October 7”, “they are all terrorists, yes, even the children”, and there are numerous reports, going back decades, of Palestinians being tortured into claiming credit for crimes they didn’t commit—it was only days ago that we saw images of a baby boy with cigarette burns on his legs, tortured by the IDF to get his father to confess—and despite all this, there are dipshits in my mentions trying to pretend like it matters how this executioner’s bill defines terrorist, as if we were talking about a normal state with normal legal mechanisms instead of an apartheid colony that has been systematically mass murdering Palestinians every day for the past three years and now has a legal mechanism for killing the 10,000 or so people they have detained. Anyone defending this is a psychopath.

I hope that people on here can conjure as much energy for the fact that Israel has 'legalized' arbitrary military 'court' death sentences for stone-throwing Palestinian children as they can for indignation at hearing the words "Free Palestine."

I truly do.

2. Standing outside a toilet in Cardiff Bay, hearing multiple flushes. Eventually a very frustrated male voice shouted "WHY WON'T YOU JUST GO DOWN!!" Beat a hasty retreat to another venue - did not want to do any kind of eye contact after hearing that 😅

Two embarrassing events today on a short visit to Cardiff.
1. Me stroking husbands back in Waterstones and saying "I'm just heading up to fantasy and sci-fi". Reader, he was not my husband, but did agree I should do that. I thought I didn't get embarrassed anymore. I was wrong.

School book banning escalates in the UK as Greater Manchester secondary school censors scores of books - Index on Censorship A school librarian faced a disciplinary hearing and scores of books were removed from her school library after she stocked Laura Bates’ Men Who Hate Women

My excellent colleague @katiedd.bsky.social has just published this remarkable investigation into rampant book banning in a Greater Manchester secondary school library.

193 books including The Da Vinci Code, Twilight, White Teeth and 1984 Graphic Novel

This is beyond belief. We should fight for the right of school librarians to use their libraries to educate and inform young people, not indoctrinate them in a political viewpoint through censorship. Solidarity with "Emily". Shame on Greater Manchester.

Concerns raised over Wales’ preparedness for future emergencies Wales may not be fully prepared to deal with another major emergency because current contingency plans rely too heavily on self-assessment, a Senedd committee has warned. A report by the Senedd’s Public Accounts and Public Administration Committee says there is not enough independent verification to ensure the Welsh Government’s emergency planning arrangements would withstand another crisis. The report, published Wednesday 11 March, explores how lessons from Wales’s response to COVID-19 have been applied to current contingency arrangements.

I shouldn't be shocked at BBC News' slant, but I wasn't expecting it in local news. And if the men are unnamed how do they know one of them is a Labour MP's partner? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... (S4C's headline translates as "Two men are arrested in Wales on suspicion of spying for China")
