Illustrated quote by Emily Coxhead with playful fonts and colours. It reads: “There is joy to be found every day in every tiny and huge kind of way. Sometimes we’re so busy our brains feel dizzy. But the magic is there… everywhere.” Featuring bright shades of pink, green, orange, blue, and yellow with doodle-style emphasis. Picture by Emily Coxhead.

“Joy is not in things; it is in us.” Richard Wagner

There’s magic in the everyday – in the tiniest blink-and-you-miss-it moment or the biggest, hugest grin.

Even when we feel dizzy with busy, joy is still there.

We just need to spot it. 🧡

Fun linguistic fact of the day. We used to speak of 'messagers' and 'passagers' before they became 'messengers' and 'passengers', since they were borrowings from French. Speakers in the Middle Ages decided to throw in what linguists call an 'intrusive n' to make them easier to say.

This a last-ditch cry for help. My lovely son is struggling to secure work ex for June, as are many of his friends. He's 17, confident, motivated, outgoing. His A levels are maths, physics, chem. I'm ready to stick him in a Travelodge to save him staying at school tidying displays. Can you help?

Speechless by @mrwolfcomics.bsky.social (creator of Mr Wolf's Class) is a masterpiece. So many children, and adults, will be able to relate to Mira and her struggles to speak in public. It's a book bursting with empathy and a perfect graphic novel for the Y5/6 bookshelves. Do track down a copy.

Good Bones
Maggie Smith

Life is short, though I keep this from my children.
Life is short, and I've shortened mine in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways, a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways
I'll keep from my children. The world is at least fifty percent terrible, and that's a conservative estimate, though I keep this from my children.
For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird.
For every loved child, a child broken, bagged, sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world is at least half terrible, and for every kind stranger, there is one who would break you, though I keep this from my children. I am trying to sell them the world. Any decent realtor, walking you through a real shithole, chirps on about good bones: This place could be beautiful, right? You could make this place beautiful.

Clearly there is an orchestrated move against the work of @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social that seeks to derail what is, overall, a strong move towards a more equitable system.
I am a MAT CEO and I have no issues with the Bill and support her work, and mandate, to improve our system.

“Do not ask your children
to strive for extraordinary lives.
Such striving may seem admirable,
but it is the way of foolishness.
Help them instead to find the wonder
and the marvel of an ordinary life.
Show them the joy of tasting
tomatoes, apples and pears.
Show them how to cry
when pets and people die.
Show them the infinite pleasure
in the touch of a hand.
And make the ordinary come alive for them.”
The extraordinary will take care of itself.
William Martin,The Parent's Tao Te Ching
