The memory box becomes two memory boxes becomes a memory loft… but yes magical artefacts. I might just frame this page.

The start of a diary reads (in the handwriting of a then 8 year old) ‘😊 My happiness diary 😊 Eden 25/01/25 My dad calling my cat a goblin!’
My daughter’s short-lived happiness diary. Can’t quite bring myself to bin it.

Folkloric creatures and old records would be a fairly accurate dating bio for me.

Bothy Band album ‘Old Hag You Have Killed Me’ released in 1976.
Car boot treasure: Irish trad folk by the Bothy Band ‘Old Hag You Have Killed Me’. Couldn’t resist the album title.
The whole Modern Fairies Project was wonderful! It ran for a year (2019) and was one of the most creatively inspiring things I've ever been involved with. There were also good side-projects coming out of it afterwards, all sadly ended by the Covid pandemic. 😥

Beautiful. I'm going to have a proper listen and read this week. Thanks!
Thanks Terri! I wasn’t aware of the project that generated that song. Must’ve been wonderful to watch it come to life.
Process video for the witch hare linocut illustration I posted last week.
I don’t post as many linocut process videos these days but @martinnutbeem.bsky.social reminded me some people still enjoy them.
A linocut illustration of a magpie in front of some headstones. The print has been digitally coloured and put on a photograph of a grass field with trees on the background and a cloudy sky above.
Another reworked linocut print with a folk song theme.
‘One for sorrow, two for joy,
Three for a girl and four for a boy.
Five for silver, six for gold,
Seven for a secret never told.
Devil, devil, I defy thee.’
Thanks Tracy!
What’s your favorite Bible verse? (Wrong answers only)
Draw it on with pencils.
Thanks Adrian.
I once went to a fancy dress wedding and there was a lovely chap there in a sixties Star Trek crew outfit and I said ‘oh god, I love Star Wars’ and he gave me such a pained look I’ve never forgiven myself.

Cold Earth. Made a little short credits sequence for this one. Played some keys (made some noises) on my minilogue for a little soundtrack.

Ah man that’s my favourite roasted meat.
Hallo…
the only kinds of artist who are not marketing creations:
- prolific power pop bands comprised of total losers
- rappers from michigan who rap so far off beat it loops around to technical proficiency
- jazz musicians of any age who smell like old people
- hardcore/metal bands who DO NOT lift weights
Thanks Emma!
Here’s a linocut illustration I made inspired by the traditional folk song ‘Reynardine’.
