YIMBYism and Abundance are worldwide movements!
It meant the world to me when @yimbylabour.bsky.social welcomed me to London this summer to mark the 20th anniversary of surviving the 7/7 attacks by visiting Parliament and interviewing the amazing YIMBY MP Chris Curtis for Radio Abundance!
Actually: a podcast episode on rural areas and how they’re affected when folks get pushed out of cities could be really great…
Got any recommendations for rural economists (or similar) that would be exciting to talk with?
Nice! Much better.
Got it! I’ll dig for it. :)
Thank you!
Nice! I can just read the article and let you be, but I'm curious if the players are now able to snag apartments, or if they're still bunking up with local families who like the team and have extra rooms?
I'd love to read it!
Yeah, rural areas being places where folks flee to (and de-ruralize) for cheaper rents while still commuting via car for hours & hours into cities and suburbs seems horrific for both workers' quality of life & the environment -- and, as you, say, for those rural areas as well!
Either way, I'm still excited to read about Labor issues in baseball and especially the Minor Leagues. :)
Got it! Yeah, I think we might actually be more aligned than at first glance? The goal is to let cities be cities, creating markets for folks in rural areas but letting those rural areas stay rural and free from the expanding sprawl of folks pushed out of cities by high rents...
Got it! Yeah, I've always felt like urbanism *in urban areas* was the best way for rural areas to stay rural. That way, folks who want to live in cities can, and folks who want to live in rural areas can. When cities can't build, that pushes sprawl out into rural areas, leaving no one happy...
Got a favorite article I should check out or any thoughts I should read up on and chew on? Thanks!
Oh, that's a take I've never heard before! I've heard plenty of concerns about development changing neighborhoods or new housing not being affordable enough, but never that urbanism harmed rural areas or was rooted in white supremacy. I've got thoughts, of course, but I'd love to learn more!
Aww, I was really excited to have found someone focusing on Labor issues in the Minors!
Feels like young players eons away from free agency — and an injury away from getting nothing — could use more pay, more rights, more choices, and more affordable housing options? No?
I love it, but not because of the big pic of my face!
I believe in a future where we Defeat Fascism, Build America, and unleash the era of Progressive Abundance.
Muscular patriotism and American history do not belong to the fascists!
Liberals who build are the soul of American greatness.
All credit for the idea goes to this amazing experience by friends, which I caught off-Broadway in New York. It's about to tour the US! So much fun!

Wow, thank you!!!
To be honest, the only Dungeons & Dragons games I've ever hosted were to raise money for Kamala. We did raise over $100,000 though, and Sean Astin from The Lord of the Rings even joined us!! I got the idea from amazing pioneers in the immersive community, which is my home base!
when you are in power:
a) do popular shit
b) tell everyone, loudly, that you are doing the popular shit, do not just assume they will notice
3) do not, under any circumstances, hand the popular shit to your opponents to take credit for
New York City built more housing in the 1920s than it has built in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s COMBINED.
Nobody alive knows what an actual urban housing boom looks like.
"She argued that a $15 toll is too high for drivers, so she gave them a 40-percent discount. And Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North customers? No such discount — those suckers are still paying roughly $15 per day in fares."
The left-leaning party in Italy has run theses community centers for decades starting after WWII. They are excellent “third places” and bring together people of different ages. Many host sport leagues. Some have daycares. This is an excellent idea that Dems should look into.
YIMBYs have One Neat Trick to fix this (NIMBYs and conservatives hate us!)
Trump isn’t the fun insurgent anymore. He’s the power, the elite — and he’s coming for your savings, your job, your speech, your daughter’s body, your undocumented grandma, and anyone who defies him.
Bloodshed and high prices are coming. Draw the battle lines. Shape the story.
Kamala should go on Rogan NOW.
Wes Moore, Whitmer, Pritzker, Shapiro, Newsome, AOC, MGP, Buttigieg, Ossoff, Warnock, Frost — everyone should be banging down the doors to go anywhere with a following and let people know what’s coming for them this January.
This story won’t tell itself.
Trump won a mandate to lower prices, defy censors, knock elites down a peg, and bring back 2019’s economy.
He will betray this immediately with price hikes, state oppression of speech, elite-led plunder, and economic shocks.
Go everywhere, now, and tell this story.
Up-for-grabs voters hate global elites, hate the media, hate government.
They will be furious when they discover that billionaire media moguls conspired to bullshit them and manufacture their consent to backstab them, plunder our national wealth, and hike the cost of living for normal Americans.
Agreed! For a time, the best strategy was to avoid damaging soundbites.
Today, we’re dealing not with a world that takes things out of context, but a world that makes up its own context. Voids are filled with lies.
The only remedy is to show up, go everywhere, and answer questions till you drop.
