I finally understand what my gma meant when she told me, “No, honey,
Gramma doesn’t watch The Cosby Show because that’s the same time Magnum PI is on.”
I'm wondering how many disbarred attorneys have ever been paid to give speeches at top law schools. www.cornellsun.com/article/2026...
The infinite growth model is one of the worst things to happen to journalism/media. At some point you reach the ceiling of people who want to read your magazine! You can just make enough money to pay people well and publish things and not grow forever!
In a sick, violent way, they have more faith in the possibility of a new world than a lot of people on the other side. They are willing to reimagine all of it. Many of us cannot imagine getting rid of payday loans and they’re like eff it, let’s see if the Pope’s still got the juice.
This is why i love Mimi Onuoha’s work — The Library of Missing Datasets

Also of note, Iowa paid Chris Rufo—perhaps the leading propagandist for the current assault on higher ed, an unqualified hack and admitted fabulist—$34,000 to speak. It's embarrassing that any higher ed institution would invite him, especially when they are cutting departmental budgets.
zomg did you click the link and see the ai-animated version?
I have someone in mind who works for Library Freedom Project, and who is awesome! Could I DM you? (Btw I teach your Big Ass Data Broker Opt Out list in my digital harassment self-defense workshops. Thank you!)
Excited to have you here! Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Joe Mansueto is founder and majority owner of Morningstar, a financial services company, and this is how corporations co-opt university resources for R&D while also infusing the culture with ideas that support their economic interests and objectives.
I grow increasingly worried that when we tell our students that we aren’t using AI they think we’re lying to them.
That's what the Moms for Liberty types did with all the books in a LGBT display at our public library last year :( They got re-bought! :) So maybe doing this just spurs sales of these books ...
Look at the organizers and marchers the incredibly inspiring protests against Homan last year in Sackets that got that family returned from detention: they were teachers unions and the DEMOCRATIC PARTY of Jefferson County. Imagine if they'd gotten an ounce of real support from Schumer or Gillibrand.
So the story is not about how red voters are turning away from Tr*mp. Rather, it's about how BLUE voters in red places have WAY more backbone and principles than our elected Dem reps in the Senate and House do.
Sackets Harbor is the fanciest town in the area. I got my first 2 jobs there -- tour guide at a historic site, followed by waiting tables -- bc the town has tourists and $$.
It's also a little blue-ish dot in a red place. The marina owner in question is both a Democrat and the village's mayor
I'm from the area too. Pretty sure he already sold his house last year after getting marched on repeatedly. Had to retreat back to Carthage where they love him.
You might be able to switch to using a dongle like a Yubikey instead of your phone. if you want to. Depends on your uni’s set-up, I’m sure, but I know folks at my library who have done this bc they don’t want to have to have their phone on them when they are running back + forth to the ref desk.
Tbf my friend did not PERFORM those songs! But to the point that the range of music that a baby might find soothing is large and i guess it’s fun to find out whether your baby wants to work with Brahms or Biggie or ?
Bwahaha. A good friend of mine soothed her fussy baby with 90s hip hop -- the only thing that worked consistently.
I missed this news when it happened. Reading the article now, it sounds like the Academy press-release writer went out of their way to not call their new unit an archive, and not to refer to any of the unit's staff as archivists or librarians. 🤔
Imaging a human saying to you, "i will only ever tell you what i think you want to hear, based on what i know about ppl like you, how you start our conversation, & what you say during it. Sometimes that will sound like truth, sometimes like errors or lies. Now: Let's talk about your medical history"
Beautiful!
Thank you! I’m getting “failed to lad company details” messages every time i click on a company or contract
Thank you!
Anyone have a gift link for this one?
As someone who’s probably on Bluesky blocklists for saying something other than "burn it all down" about AI, it also seems clear that asking for more nuance in these discussions in Dec 2025 is like asking for more nuanced discussion of immigration as masked ICE agents toss people in unmarked vans+

created by the company to engage in intimate and explicit conversations with lonely men and women." (via @dairinstitute.bsky.social)

A non-existent paper attributed to Ben Williamson has already been cited 42 times.
It's like Scholarly Communication has been injected with misinformation bombs. Events are totally out of control. No one has a handle on its extent. And, there's no plan to stop it.
