Heat map-style graphic showing monthly air temperature rankings in the Arctic at the 925 hPa level for each month from January 1979 to February 2026 using ERA5. There is a long-term warming trend evident in each month. Blue shading is shown for colder months, and red shading is shown for warmer months. A yellow number is shown for each grid box to display the actual temperature ranking. February 2026 was the 25th warmest February on record.

One of my original climate visualizations is the monthly Arctic ranking heatmap for lower tropospheric temperatures (925 hPa). It used NCEP/NCAR R1, which is now discontinued (overdue for an update anyways).

I wonder if we can redefine biking as a religion, that cyclists would get appropriate rights and be more revered. Cyclism? And would it not be fun with the Holy Bike?
DO NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT THE EPSTEIN FILES
I think most people would prefer this. #Science
A decisive step for Europe’s digital future. The European Commission has awarded a €180 million, 6-year contract to European cloud providers, strengthening our capacity to manage sensitive data under EU rules. 1/2
A Super-duper El Niño lurks below the Equatorial Pacific Ocean surface, with a large section of the ocean showing a temperature anomaly of >5°C.

Anyone banning renewables should be facing criminal charges of crimes against humanity and long prison sentences.
We are facing rapid extreme climate change already and we need to end fossil fuel use immediately.
Continuing conversations about global climate efforts is imperative as we fight for sensible climate policies on our own turf. Thanks to the Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition for hosting an important conversation on how we can be good stewards of smart climate policy around the world. 🌎
What happened with the rest of the Epstein documents, by the way? It's easy to get distracted by Trump's war🤨

CCNow’s Andrew McCormick and Kyle Pope were in Chicago this week for #SEJ2016. They talked with @rachelreports.bsky.social about the power of community for climate journalists. It’s a tough beat and connecting in person is, as Rachel says, so important. We agree!
If this progress is accompanied with developments within battery technology, then we may perhaps be less dependent on Strait of Hormuz in the future. And less affected by idiocracy on speed by pitiful men who shall not be named.
Germany just activated its largest ever solar installation — one farm, 1.5 million homes, zero carbon. The #CottbusSolarPark covers 3,500 hectares and produces 2.1 tw-hours annually, replacing two coal plants that operated on this same land until 2022. #SolarPower #ActOnClimate #Renewables
Fossil Fuels Are Not The Future….
Map showing the western United States mean temperature for January to March 2026 relative to a 1991-2020 departure.
Almost the entire Western United States is averaging more than 5°F warmer than the most recent 1991-2020 climate baseline so far in 2026, which is truly remarkable. Off the color scale here!

Would there be fewer wars and conflicts in a world without a stock market, but where people owned their own businesses rather than banks and filthy rich gits?
