I don't like this, but it's true. Twitter is where I still have the largest nominal reach, and probably largest reach among various people in the public eye, and there's an argument for the uses of that... but it would be far better for "X" to become irrelevant, and my use slows that down.

Ladies: before you quit your high paying ad exec job in the city and move in with the handsome charming flannel-wearing Christmas-loving man who runs an adorable small business in your hometown, remember to ask where he was on January 6 👀

Advertisers Flee X as Outcry Over Musk’s Endorsement of Antisemitic Post Grows Disney, Apple and Lionsgate halted marketing on X, formerly Twitter, as Elon Musk faced a furor over antisemitic abuse on his social media platform.

Literally all musk had to do was enjoy being rich and not be a Nazi, and that was too difficult. www.nytimes.com/2023/11/17/t...

Trump Takes Veterans Day Speech in a Very Different Direction The former president said that threats from abroad were less concerning than liberal “threats from within” and that he was a “very proud election denier.”

Trump says he's going after "radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country." That kind of rhetoric has preceded every genocide in history.

Am I saying Trump is planning a genocide? No. But don't be surprised when the brownshirt violence starts.

The demonization of DC in right-wing rhetoric has always been racist and aimed to justify the disenfranchisement of DC as a state. But in the last year it's been matched by efforts to strip DC of home rule and make us an "example" of how the GOP would run cities and it terrifies me

Yeah. The "14" is a completely fake number, with no connection to the Secret Service's actual practices (which involve the number "120").

The "88" is his own chosen number.

And I don't see any reason to give him the benefit of the doubt on it.

Lara Logan tweet: "I want you to know I have nothing to do with Q Anon & never would as there is no way I would associate with Media Matters for America or Gen Stan McChrystal’s group or the Lincoln Group or any of those involved in this psyop/set-up. I would rather stick needles in my eyes.

Pretty sure Jim Caveziel & Tim Ballard feel the same way."

Contrary to what Lara Logan claims (besides falsely claiming MMFA is behind QAnon), she's previously:

-echoed Q's call to deny QAnon exists
-collaborated with QAnon influencer Juan O. Savin
-endorsed the QAnon-connected adrenochrome conspiracy theory

So she does have something to do with QAnon.

100% to this: “responding to disinformation is not about playing whack-a-troll or censoring. It’s about providing, surfacing, and teaching people how to find correct information. It’s about more speech, not less speech.”

at this point, “are you willing to let Libs of TikTok continue to spew terrorist filth on your platform” is a remarkable litmus test for if a company has a spine

Yep, at Media Matters we’ve been saying this for years as soon as the right started screaming about anti-conservative bias at the platforms. They’re very effective at working the refs even when the data shows their claims are absolutely untrue
